agouti 105 Posted September 15, 2014 (edited) So, I've noticed the sks can't use the PSOP scope, and various other issues. Now let me state for the record, I've seen more SKSes with PSOP scopes than I have PU scopes, though I've seen PU scopes, and I had a PU knock-off I was planning on putting on my SKS before I decided to go with a zrak because I just need to have a range finder. Also, I've seen mosins with various scopes, including the PSOP scope. What is the real issue here, is not the scope being used, but the way in which it is mounted. Thus I would like to see a greater compatibility with scopes and rifles. Now, with the PU scope, it uses the typical mosin/sks/SVD style mount, so I could see this not being used on an AK, which requires a different mount. However, the PSOP comes in two main flavors, being the "V" clamp, and the standard side rail. The AK uses the v clamp, and the SKS/SVD/mosin uses the standard side rail. If you wish to keep the PSOP scope the same on both the AK and SVD (which use two different methods of mounting), then, logically, the SKS should be able to mount it as well, as well as the mosin. All that being said, why doesn't the AR have the ability to use a long range scope, or the SKS?The SKS shares the same side style mounting mechanism as the mosin, and as no actual method of mounting is shown in game, who's to say you couldn't have rail mounts on an AR? gibonez 3633 Posted September 15, 2014 If anything the scope compatibility needs to be far more restrictive and not even more open. Basically if the weapon can easily, without modification or any hard to imagine machining then give it the scope. Yes any weapon with rails should take any of the railed scopes, the pu scope should not mount on the sks, the pso scope should mount fine on the ak but zeroing should not work as the elevation adjustments are for 7.62x54r out of a svd. Why should the PU scope not work on an SKS? The SKS was designed to use the PU scope, and all you need to attach it is a to cut out a little bit of the stock and rivet in a basic side rail. The same procedure is necessary on a mosin. Also, there's a bajillion different varities of the PSOP, calibrated for different guns.
