Why can't I put the long range scope on the M4?

Yet I can put it on the Mosin which is one of the most difficult guns to mount a scope on in real life. Mosin should be limited to PU mount style scopes or short rear site scout style scopes. The long range scope should just have a set of rings that would mount on anything with a picatinny rail/base.

Meh, I could take it or leave it.

 

With the M4A1 it's a toss-up for me.

 

On one hand, I understand that it's realistic and the M4A1 isn't all that great enough for me to say that "this combination would be too much."

 

But on the other hand, I just don't see much utility in it. That, and the M4A1 isn't all that great in the sense that it's not deserving of the LRS as opposed to dedicated sniper rifles on which it would actually make a difference.

 

I don't necessarily think the best scope in the game should be able to be on anything less than the best weapons in the game.

 

But I'd love to see either an 8x hunting scope and/or some kind of 6x rifle optic (like a TA648 or somesuch). I think the biggest problem facing optics now, is the lack of variety.

Yeah, attach a LRS to a gun with some duct tape and see how well that works out for you :P

maybe someday, we can create dual mag by duct tape.

Or restrain/silence survivors, or rudimentally patching/crafting gear... maybe even tape knives to long sticks to create ghetto ass spears!

I'm guessing because not everything is configured 100% yet. Hopefully with some more high powered hunting rifles the LRS will shift to those platforms, the Mosin is just a good base to start with during development.

I think this is right. I already don't use the LRS on Mosin because it just doesn't "feel" right to me. However it's a fine pairing for now from a gameplay perspective. Also, as Katana mentioned, I imagine we'll see a tad more variety in optics in the future.

Add duct taping scopes with the change of having to sight in your scope every time you mount it. I love the idea of someone saying scopes are garbage and aren't pointing where the bullets are hitting.
