Bullet Speed for sniper rifles?

Recommended Posts

I've been thinking of a easier way of sniping but for that I would need the bullet speed values for the sniper rifles which I don't have or even if they exist.

I would like to know if someone knows a source which I can go get that information.

It would only be fair to share your "easier way of sniping". For example, I know some estimates, but I'm not giving it away for free. Let's be honest: I would hate to give you the numbers and get sniped in the head tomorrow because of that.

Speed of bullets. Holy, that would be a real "sim". (:

Sniper rifle bullets in Arma2/DayZ travel at 800m/sec.

it should depend on the caliber/ammunition.

have fun reading

Edit: it seems that this problem was solved?? https://dev-heaven.net/issues/show/8219

Ah thanks icomrade for the correction. I hadn't seen that post before. So they are using actual RL ballistic speeds.

I've been using 800m/s to calculate leading the target as I read a post from before the ones you linked as that was the speed. Would explain why some of my farther shots were off a little bit.

Nice to know they're using the 900m/s for the 5.56. Will make using the M16 ACOG more intuitive for me now.

Sorry, was at work, so a little distracted. What I actually wanted to say that even BF3 accounts for bullet speed ;)
