Steam Installation?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I've bought Arma2 and Arma2: OA. I didn't buy it in the combined op's package though, so I am a little stuck on how to exactly install the mod, any help?

Here is how I did it:

First downloaded all the files and put them in my operation arrowhead and arma 2 folders like it said in the manual (I have the folders in both, dont know wich one is right)

that it has to be @dayz/Addons/

so then when that was done I went to my steam and added to Operation Arrowheads launch options: -mod=@dayz

then launched the game trough that shortcut and chose Combined Operations

If you do it the same, then it should work. It works for me totally fine.

I hope I helped.

You can also make a symbolic link that links the base ArmA 2 "AddOns" folder to OA's, thus, running Combined Operations. You always want to use the OA exe to run Combined Ops. You can find me on the UO TS (ts3.unitedoperations.net) for instructions on how to do so. You could also PM me, but I would prefer TS. Be warned that this is for more advanced users, even though I can walk you through it.

^

Copy "Addons" folder from Arma 2 directory.

Paste in to Arma 2:Operation Arrowhead directory.

Copy and replace for all.

Done.

That works as well, however, it doubles the amount of space used on the HDD. It's very useful for those who are not advanced, but not practical for lower capacity SSD users.

Well you could delete the arma2 addons folder after copying it...I wouldn't recommend it, but then in this day and age, I've never heard of someone worry about space for an 8GB folder

I have a 64GB SSD which I run ArmA off of. I also have ACE and the extra addons for United Operations installed. So for me, an extra 8GB is quite a big deal. :p But like I said, for most users, that is the simpler solution.

This is how I got it to work with a steam install, do the following:

1.) Make @dayz folder in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead

2.) Make Addons folder within the @dayz folder

3.) Extract all downloaded files to this Addons folder

4.) In steam, type -nosplash -mod=@dayz into the launch options for ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead

5.)Load ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead through steam and choose the Launch ARMA2: Combined Operations option

Now once its loaded up to the menu you shoudl see @dayz in the expansion tab

Go to multiplayer, enter dayz in the mission search filter and you're away!

p.s. nice sig Griff :P
