SatinTroll 0 Posted June 30, 2012 So i saw some videos of DayZ and thought it looks pretty awesome, almost instantly bought it and now here i am. After i installed the game with the Six Launcher like recommended on the official site, i joined a server and tried it out. There was nothing to see from the awesomeness in the videos :/ Not because the game sucks, the game is really awesome and i know it's just an alpha version, but it just won't work properly on my PC. I need to set up the resolution to some weird settings that i usually never use just to see the green symbols in the bottom right corner of the screen. The game lags really hard and sometimes i got some sort of frozen-screen. The graphic settings are all very low and still it lags and of course looks like shit. It's just no fun to play :/ Usually my PC can handle every game, i already played games like Prototype, Mass effect (1-2) and AC (1-2) without any problems. Some informations:Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 2x 3.00 GHz4 GB RAMWindows 7 32bit (i know its shit)GForce 8800 GTIf you need more tell me. I want to play this game so bad, please please help me out!
Tarman 4 Posted June 30, 2012 sounds like a head scratcher.I've avoided the six launcher/updater so far.I used the DayZUpdater and haven't had a problem, but you need to update everything manually.Have you got the latest beta patch for arma 2? When you launch the game, it tells you the version in the bottom right of the main menu (fyi)

SatinTroll 0 Posted June 30, 2012 Get a better graphics card maybe?8800 GT is soooo 2008Well that's the year Arma 2 was released. And i had no problems with the 8800 GT yet. :p'Have you got the latest beta patch for arma 2? When you launch the game, it tells you the version in the bottom right of the main menu'Well i guess if i'd not have it i couldn't start the game properly ? And i just installed the game 3 days ago so there can't be a new patch :o
mansen 1 Posted June 30, 2012 Lets be honest - your machine is pretty old (I should know, I had a very similar e8400 setup a few years ago), but the game "should" run.Have you tried opening up regular ARMA2 and playing for a bit in singleplayer? DayZ adds some "lag" compared to the singleplayer experience.

But i still get frozen-screens and the resolution settings are weird.

Ppl with gtx 680 and 2600k having issues too. try playing around with setttings, disabling AtoC-keeping AA etc.

americanman1243@yahoo.com 1 Posted June 30, 2012 That lag you're experiencing is from the six launcher. Once you've started connecting to a server, turn the 6 launcher off.As for resolution and display settings, these can all be adjusted in the advanced video menu in the arma 2 options. You can access all that while on DayZ.I run a machine with lower specs than yours and the game runs just fine even on higher settings.
Xelacalle 0 Posted June 30, 2012 It's very strange that you're having this problem... I'm playing on laptop with Intel I3 processor, 4gb of RAM and integrated graphics, and I am not experiencing the same problems you're having. Is anything running in the background? Try closing everything and checking in the hidden icons on the taskbar. Additionally, there have been reports that lowering graphics settings can move load from your graphics card and onto your RAM instead, so lowering settings may not help.If you still have the same problems after restoring default graphics settings and closing EVERYTHING then I'm not sure what else you can do. Sethliopod 4 Posted June 30, 2012 This doesn't sound like the issue, but they are adding little patches just about every day it seems:http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php/The game will still run without updating them, just sometimes wrong in varied ways.
