Persistent gear, what is the current state (AFAWK)

Persistent gear, what is the current state as far as we know?

 

Not been playing the last month or two, I know there is some persistent gear but what form does it take?  Can anyone explain how things are presently with persistent loot?  (Talking Experimental Build here)

Haven't played .49 myself yet, but from what I've red everything is now persistent. If you drop an apple in the middle of the street, it will be there after server restart.

 

If this loot you drop will ever get deleted is not known by now, and I guess no one does except the devs (but since they are too eager to write changelogs for experimental updates...)

Funny you say that, killed a guy who had an AKM today, used it to clear the outside of the building and then ran off. Eventually I dumped it in some random bush and went on my way. Maybe someone will find it before it despawns but until then that's one less annoying assault rifle out there.

I'd hoped the smiley face with tongue out would have signified i was not being serious.  In my opinion in a sandbox like this there is no right or wrong way to play.  I do however find it a little mean spirited that people hide high value items just so others cant have it, I understand why, but i'm an old hippy that prefers to share the goodies! :)
