Guest Posted August 21, 2014 (edited) I am completely and hopelessly lost in this. It looks pointlessly overdone, and half of the settings don't make any sense. Is there any page where it's explained what each of the assignments does? It's everything but self-explanatory. For example (but not limited to) what the heck is the difference between turbo, fast forward and run. That sort of stuff. Kronons 98 Posted August 21, 2014 Here's the Dayz Manual. I'm sure they'll improve it later on but it gives you a bit of information.http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/221100/manuals/DayZ_Public_Alpha_Manual.pdf?t=1407239820 Here is a guide I found googling the topic. http://guides.gamepressure.com/dayz/guide.asp?ID=15595 Next time try googling it and searching a bit. Hope you figure it out.
d-angelo 1 Posted August 21, 2014 (edited) this doesn't really answer what he asked about. This is how I see it.You character always "runs", I believe. The jog-like pace is the running, I think. I think this is default. There is a "sneak"-button or walk-button. I usually doube-tap the shift button. This slows your character's pace down to a walk.By holding shift, the character starts actually running, let's call this sprinting. At this speed, your character moves fast, and loudly. In the DayZ mod, there was an extra "speed". By double-tapping the directional walking key (w) your character would go into something I called "flee"-mode, "desperation dash", or "fast forward".I haven't tried it out on DayZ SA, but figues it's the same (?). Double-tap W to run at the fastest speed possible.Check this out:Double-tap shift = walk, sloww = jogg, mediumshift + w = run, fastdouble-tap W = turbo, very fast Edited August 21, 2014 by d-angelo
boneboys 7988 Posted August 21, 2014 You can bind a key to fast forward, this will give you sprint.Evasive left & right will allow you to roll left/right when prone, I have bound Evasive and Lean L/R to the same key (mouse wheel tilt button),ArmA/DayZ is one of the few programs that allows multiple binds using the same key without conflict. Controls will be refined in the future to eliminate some inherited from previous ArmA2.
Guest Posted August 21, 2014 (edited) After some hopeless googling and asking around, I figured some of the keys probably didn't do anything and were just leftovers from.... well, from something. I thought DayZ was written from scratch, but apparently it's a modified other game by BI. Keep in mind I don't know anything about all this Arma stuff other than it's some old game by BI.Also, from what I heard there were some changes recently and what people knew as that 2xW doesn't exist anymore. At least there wasn't any such combination defined when I installed the game. Now, after some experimenting it seems like turbo and fast forward are the same things. Both result in what I am used to call sprint from Battlefield.I really hope the controls will be significantly simplified in future, because currently it's not confusing mess, and especially for a new player.
