Tent Placement

I am curious to hear of peoples experiences with the tents so far. Has anyone found any good hiding spots for them and remained unlooted? Has anyone found and raided any tents since their release into the live servers (or experimental)? I recently came across one and have been contemplating where to best place it to get the longest use out of it, as a result I've become curious to hear if anyone else has had any luck hiding their stash of goods. 

 

For those who may wonder, I found my tent in one of these little stands:

Have you gotten any notes? Did you try to hide it or did you just stick it in a place that looked appealing?

I always place mine near Myshkino. But, it can get a bit crowded at times oddly enough.

 

I'm not really interested in tents, though, until I can control where they're placed. Not have the game dictate to me where my, already insanely visible tent, gets placed.

I thought about perhaps the forest around Myshkino, or southwest of Pavolovo. I had also considered either the north east corner of the map (north east of Berezhki) or anywhere else near the northern corner of the map. I feel like anywhere in the middle of the map would be stumbled upon.

 

Edit: And yeah, it'll be nicer when we can place the tents somewhere specific or even just spray paint them lmao

yeah they are a bugger to place allright - while a bit lame it really was a fine art hiding tents in the mod, some peoples tent stashes were amazing.

My buddy found 3 that we raided, they were predictably full of duped crap (infinite ammo m4s and such).  We tossed their stuff and took 2 of the tents for ourselves, though I reckon at least 2 of the 3 tents themselves were duped in retrospect.  It doesn't matter much though, the server we were on broke (FL 2-13).

 

My thoughts on tents in general are that with the way loot respawns, it's a pain to find them.  It would be nice to be able to do wide circuits of feed shacks and feel hopeful, instead of returning to the same shack hours later or even after restarts to find it still empty.  For that reason I think you may actually be better off finding placed tents and stealing them, however the problem then becomes that there are probably so few placed so far that it's a bit of a wild goose chase even with how visible they are.

 

While I agree with Katana that you should be able to place them in such a way as they're easier to conceal, I do sorta like how you can't glitch them into things any more.  I was actually a proponent of glitching them in the mod, as I felt if you were able to access it anyone could, so it was just a matter of being aware enough.  However, it was a glitch and a bit unsightly so I'm happy for the change, though it should be a bit more lenient so you can get right up to branches/bushes and such.  I think we'll see more and varied types of tents and stashes though, that will be more concealable so I'm not too concerned about it.

 

I'm happy they're in, but like most features of the SA it's very bare bones and basically a prototype of what's to come.  So I look forward to the future, and am glad they finally got them in so they can start building from there.

look you can be sure its going to be found, just depends on who / what type of person finds it..

Recently I have been playing hardcore servers more often because I got really ****** off with people peeking over walls in regular servers (I'm guilty of it too) But I was wondering if any of you have been playing hardcore servers and have seen "Persistence on" hardcore servers because I haven't been able to find any of yet, I'd appreciate it if any of you could help out, thanks in advance!

I haven't tried them yet but if we cant place them well im not interested either.

 

Just need a smoother version of the mods current tent placement system. As long as you move slow yu can move it around a bit then Q and E rotate it.

 

Hopefully some version of the mods tent gets added aswell, just for nostalgia. Id love to recreate some of my old campsites

Had that happen to me too. I was deploying a tent underneath an overhang and it went on top of it. Surprising since I can't deploy tents on top of buildings. 

 

Tent servers don't work properly because they keep crashing. I have a tent with some spare optics in them and I can't get them because the server's perpetually down.

Yeah they're fucked up.  I think it's probably to do with that unintentional dupe people have been talking about, where putting items in their tent makes the tent keep popping duplicates of the item outside of it.  Probably overloads the server or some shit and fucks it up.  Just my theory though.

 

Servers really hang on restarts now too.
