So hows the alpha progressing?

Are they just focusing on adding new features for now and only polishing at the end? Game seems very clunky and awkward just like it was at the start and half the doors don't open.

 

 

Least the issue of 0 loots hours in has been fixed. Got myself a 25 slot bag and a cap/ and shirt and pants as well as a soda, can of food and an orange all within 10 mins. I was trying to loot a machete that was the first loot that I found but my bags were full so I tried to drop the machete back and rearrange for room but the machete disappeared :(

They've got some stuff running that puts the items in all sorts of places when you drop them. On one hand it's really cool - you drop a can of something and it shows up on the bookshelves. Also makes it less easy to deduce if something was dropped by a player or spawned there. On the other hand, it sometimes displaces the stuff you drop. It typically puts it in the next room, or in a room above or below you.

Note that not all doors can be opened, only a few of them. 

Also, sometimes the open/close icon you get when approaching a door is not related to that door but to another one in a room nearby/below.  It's a known bug.

I'd say that most of the buildings are enterable, the ones you cant are very few and far between - mostly large industrial buildings.

 

In answer to the question of what the dev team are focused on - I understand they are working on multiple areas of the game simultaneously. These different teams will progress at different rates which can make it appear that some things are getting more attention than others, which isn't the case. If you want to gain a better understanding of what the team is up to I think you should check out the last two "status reports" here on the forums - http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/forum/134-development-blogs-status-reports/

Bit of a loaded question isnt it?

Its alpha and it is progressing.

 I dont understand the "loaded question" part, could you reiterate?

 Notice loot piles disappearing while new loot piles would 'spawn' while crouch-walking through houses. Tried to comfirm but the zombies kept jumping through the walls. Reminds me exactly of the mod, last-year, right-down to the houses created in 1991.

progress huh? well, after being off the standalone for three months and countless hours of dayz overwatch played; i came back to the standalone to check out if it got any better.. well after 3 gig of update of stuff that seemed cool i finally get in a server and spawn in. the last time i logged was in a town and that means my fps plummeted to dust and disappeared . so i was like "okay this has been this way since the begging" so i trug on... i was then chased by the sniper zombies that can see you from 10000000 miles away.. the desync wouldn't let me pull out my axe and the zombies beat the crap out of me till i could barely get away. After bandaging i went to loot a town for food to heal with... well, desync and just about every other aspect was against me and a player walked around the corner with his gun drawn.... i couldn't pull out my gun because of the desync (which happens on every server) and in about two seconds it said i was dead and there were no shots fired.. so.... progress is slow but im hoping it gets done... till then im going back to the mod and just about any other game to keep me away from the standalone as of now.

^ this is why you don't play on servers above 250 ping

Or stop the midget porn stream until you are tucked in the woods
