I mean for hunting yes, but for real pvp when the other players have rifles then I cant see anyone using it unless you are sneaking up on them which again does not really work most of the time

It's decent for stealth and the arrows hit hard, but if you get into open combat or a firefight you're basically screwed. If you must have a similar weapon that is more effective in combat, then take the crossbow. It's not a whole lot better, but you can use M4 optics (and now the new holosight) which make aiming easy.

 

Still, unless you plan on making your entire game stealth & hunting based, with no anticipation of hostile encounters, I'd go with a gun. The Sporter-22 is a nice alternative because it has a decent capacity and is super quiet, and the Amphibia is a good choice as well. They're still not really viable for heavy combat (The Amphibia as a sidearm is fine for shootouts), but you'll probably stand a much better chance with one of them.

I think they need to let people have it AND a rifle, it's basically useless maybe in future it won't be but guns are so common that it's not worth the effort to make a bow over finding a gun.

 

If you could wear it round yourself as a third weapon it could be good, especially when base building is added you could use it to creep up and take out guards then sneak in with your M4 or whatever out.

I think we should be able to carry two rifles. Currently (unless you have sawed-off shotty) you can only sling one rifle on one shoulder and a melee weapon on the other. In order to carry another rifle you must always carry it in your hands (which becomes a pain in the ass very fast).

 

By the way, I logged out last night with my sawed-off in my hands. Apparently that was a big mistake. I logged in this morning and had no shotgun! (Dammit!). I guess you have to put the sawed-off shotgun back into your pack or you'll lose it when you log back in? (is this confirmed or was I just really unlucky?).

I've lost three or four shotguns when logging on/off. It's to do with the game sorting your pack I think.
