New Maps/The Army of the Czech Republic and DayZ...

Recommended Posts

so any official info on this (i know search engine, blah blah but its 404ing for me)?

It sure would be nice to play on some new maps. Chernarus is getting pretty stale now.

I don't think the DayZ mod will move from Chernarus until the community does something about it. Rocket's got enough on his hands without converting another one of Arma 2's maps to DayZ. I imagine, however, that if someone put the work into it and made, say, Fallujah compatible with DayZ, it might get Rocket's attention.

If we want more maps, we'll have to do it ourselves =P

That's an awesome idea.

Instead of complaining/insulting people on the forums for 1 hour each day, we should help out with some work instead.

Actually there is not that much work to be done. He has said here on the fourms, and also in the PC Gamer interview quoted below that setting up [an existing arma 2] map for Dayz would take about an hour.

Rocket: So the only thing we’d need to do is go through and configure the buildings, the spawn positions. Basically you can configure that in about an hour. It took me about an hour to do Chernarus, just going through the buildings, placing gear here and here and here. I have a little mission, I run around each building and pop the stuff and then it’s done.

For the preorder of Czech Republic I'd say you won't be able to add it in Steam, because for everything else it explicitly states that you can order it through the bistudio store and activate it on Steam. Also none of the Bohemia's games are listed under the Steam CD-Keys list so you will need a separate Steam key, won't work by default.

As an example: "Arma X: Anniversary Edition - Steam version. Support us directly by buying Arma X: Anniversay Edition from Store.bistudio.com - activate, download and play using Steam!"
