nadbuddy 1 Posted August 10, 2014 Hi! First off, i've always wondered how people record ArmA 2: DayZ with the performance loss.I have an i7-4790K and a GTX 780 SC and i am getting roughly 25-50 fps on the map Lingor (Overpoch). I cannot imagine someone recording though, especially needing it to be capped at 30fps constantly. I currently use Dxtory and use the Lagarith Lossless codec to record to a dedicated hard drive (roughly 180mbps - Seagate Barracuda 1TB). This might be a really short topic but does anyone have any idea how people are recording ArmA 2 with constant 30fps+? It just seems a bit odd to me how they are doing it and how i cannot do it myself. Really want to record some epic stuff and share it to my friends :)
Zedertone 378 Posted August 10, 2014 (edited) They have multi-thousand dollar comps.Just kidding, there is an issue that a lot of people have where they have good system specs but still lag, there are plenty of fixes out there. :P Edited August 10, 2014 by Zedertone
SmashT 10907 Posted August 10, 2014 Use Nvidia Shadowplay, you will have virtually no FPS loss, plus you don't need to worry about hitting record before something interesting happens, just play and then if something does happen save the last 10 minutes. I like shadowplay and your completely right that there is literally no performance loss but I find mostly I like to play with friends and shadowplay as of current does not record 3rd party applications such as Skype unless i was to record it separately with audacity but I cba. If you want setting info then message me and ill send you some details. Another thing I would stress is the server is a big factor of fps when playing and recording, if the server's scripts are not organised properly and/or are not configured properly then it can result in big drops in fps especially prevalent on high loot servers. I will PM you on YouTube.
SmashT 10907 Posted August 10, 2014 What about the quality and also recording Skype audio (friends)? Quality is pretty great (it's not lossless but if you are uploading to youtube it doesn't seem to really matter anyway) There's an audio setting to record your own voice or just in-game, to record skype you might have mess around with a third-party program like virtual audio cable but I haven't tried it.
