hothtimeblues 128 Posted August 10, 2014 Why would steam or Bohemia care if hackers purchase a new steam account and then Dayz for another 30 bucks after each ban wave? What is the incentive to use money or resources to prevent hacking being Possible in the first place? Every pc or internet connection should have a unique ID that prevents people from being able to create a new account from same pc or internet connection..... Then hacking would drop by 50% in my opinion.
Zombie Milkman 167 Posted August 10, 2014 If I was in the mood for it and decided to set up and pick off spawns, there'd not be any specific feeling behind it, that much I know. I'd simply do it because I could, and I assume this is the cause behind most of these incidents. On topic : The ones you all label as hackers are indeed not even worthy of that title, they simply use tools that a third party created for them. *edit*erk..doublepost, sorry.Yeah, this. This was the first forum I saw cheaters referred to as hackers but there are some who alter database info or game algorithms to cheat. The last two earn the label. The rest, which is the vast majority do not. They are more like the stooge cohorts to the Riddler and Penguin in the old Batman TV series with Adam West. I've wondered for a while if game developers should just install an easy button on their games. The cheater could speed through and win and then move on to some other game leaving the rest of us alone. Or the devs here could let server admins police their products. Ooh, my mind exploded! captain_finnish 134 Posted August 11, 2014 Dear people complaining about hackers, please stop.So we should just be quiet and not point it to devs that it is a problem? We should just take it and play with scriptkiddies, while they make your game experience worst?

King Raptor 191 Posted August 11, 2014 Possible in the first place? Every pc or internet connection should have a unique ID that prevents people from being able to create a new account from same pc or internet connection Hell no. You should seriously read up on privacy. Parents should just keep an eye on what their shitty brood is doing and game developers should invest more in battling cheaters in the court room. If the music industry can do it, why can't game publishers?
LeeVanSpliff 156 Posted August 11, 2014 Every pc or internet connection should have a unique ID that prevents people from being able to create a new account from same pc or internet connection..... Then hacking would drop by 50% in my opinion. It actually does: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_address If used for fighting hackers, there would be plenty of ways to get around this though - can't fix the problem. The thing you suggest would require a more centralized control of the 'net - and plenty of people are suggesting it these days (mostly larger companies). Plenty of people (myself included) are against it for the privacy issues mentioned by raptor. Raptor also gives the solutions: courts. So much money is being spent on stopping these little assholes from doing what they do. If I cost an airline a fortune by pretending to have a bomb, I'll get sued. If I cost some useless designer brand money by issuing an even more useless copy product, I'll get sued. If I interrupt a soccer match by running around on the pitch I'll get sued. If I count cards at a casino I'll be sued. Just sue the little shitbags - see how they like cheating if it will cost them 1000 times the game's cost to get caught. Cpanther 221 Posted August 11, 2014 The only way to stop "cheaters" is to make a game where cheating doesn't matters, or have little impact in other players. Most people cheat to grief, take that griefing factor away and cheating becomes boring. I believe CCP already experimented with something like that.. by literately adding aimbots and wallhacks to Dust 514, and making cheating pointless. If you can't beat them, join them type of mentality.
