is there a way to take our trees i am looking to build a custom town but i need to take out a small amount of trees is that possible?

For the Standalone: No.

 

For the Mod: Yes, there's resources on this forums and elsewhere (I would recommend Google or the search feature)

Look for something called grass cutter, I've never used it personally but have seen people talking about it.
