Spazco 4 Posted August 4, 2014 So, when I play DayZ I sometimes like to take a look around and take in the image of this game, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed (graphical wise), but when it comes to walking in rural areas or even when i walk in the woods, everything just seems so blah. The thing is, it doesn't even feel like a global tragedy/pandemic happened, instead, more or less, it feels like an abandoned ghost town that you just merrily jog through. Now don't get me wrong, I know this is a new reconstructed map and all, but very boring right now. I'm not saying since it's a zombie apocalypse have blood lining every wall in town, but add beauty to the rural areas. What I mean by this is: 1. Add Overgrowth- I don't know about you but i haven't seen anyone mowing the lawn or trimming the hedges lately. Add tall grass growing in the cracks of the roads or maybe some trees outlining the houses or buildings. One of the most beautiful things about a decimated human population is when nature starts to take over the world in place of the humans. 2. Rubble- Now I have noticed that the team has started to add destroyed buildings and such, but i don't think its enough. maybe every 1 in 5 houses in a rural area should at least have a collapsed roof or floor opening to the outside world. without contractors or builders, a house isn't gonna stand very long is it? 3. Wind/Music- This is just a bonus idea more or less. I think wind subtly blowing across the wasteland wouldn't hurt. Just the sound of it at least would add that more of a sense of feeling to your environment. And last but not least Music. Now i'm not talking about Skrillex-ing it while you run into town or Celine Dion; just a soft subtle chime whenever you walk into a city or go through the woods maybe only when you enter a town or an important sight and just repeats every 15 minutes while you are in the town. Now to add this all up and put this into perspective, Imagine this: You get on DayZ after a new update on environment immersion. You take a stroll through a town and immediately notice a difference. Your see the wind kick up dirt and look up to see that favorite house you love, because it spawns your favorite can of beans and weapon in the same house yeah, you know what i'm talking about, has some leaves covering the walls and snaking around windows all the way to the roof. You slowly walk in and step over a decayed corpse and see even a small tree is growing in the middle of the broken wood floor with vines sprawling from the grounds and up the walls which have cracks lining them. You go upstairs to see that a whole section of the floor and wall has collapsed, forming a ramp to the backyard, with vines draping down from the opening almost creating a curtain. You turn around and find your beans, and as you're opening them, you look up and see a hole in the roof, also with vines flowing down. You then go close to a window and look outside to see a leaf dancing back and forth in the wind. you hear the wind flowing through the trees, and then a soft musical chime starts to play, and then you get all nostalgic. FREAKING BAD*** AM I RIGHT? I understand this would take quite a long while to finish and not really everything has to be done, just something to feel like society has broken down and the only thing the people are mending to is themselves. When i play video games i like the little things that the game has to offer because when you add all of them up, you get the biggest experience that the game offers and more! Even better than that giant dragon that spewed molten lava at you that you managed to smite with the help of the geek god Zeus and 12 predator missiles. Is that bad***? YES! But only big things were involved in this which don't really make things that memorable in the long term experience.

Chaingunfighter 917 Posted August 4, 2014 It would really take a lot of work, but it would be something I'd hope to see. However, there's no real consistency in the apocalypse. Some of the buildings look brand new, while others look fairly run down and damaged. The grass and lawns in some places are heavily overgrown but in others its really short. And of course there's the cars which look rusted to hell in most instances. But then there's the fact that you can find fresh fruit just sitting around. dheid 3 Posted August 4, 2014 Love this but wait for development to get more important details in before cosmetic improvements.
