archamedes 238 Posted August 3, 2014 some servers reset your character just for that specific game, making everyone that joins a fresh spawn so they have like 2-4 hours to gear up just like anyone else before the next reset rather than joining as a bambi and getting met with seal team 6. This has actually freaked me out a few times, but when i join my normal servers afterwards, im still kitted out as i was before
LeeVanSpliff 156 Posted August 3, 2014 Not sure if it's just bad luck, but lately I've seen zombies carry a grudge like I just beat up their little sisters. I go into the woods, find a dry spot, cut some wood, build a fire and when I'm sitting there with the matches, a zombie charges me from the direction I came from. Maybe if a zombie does the same and knocks your character unconscious during the logout timer?

LeeVanSpliff 156 Posted August 3, 2014 it may have been chasing you from a distance and took his time getting to you Yep, that's what I'm thinking. So if I had logged out in stead of settle down to light a fire, I guess it could've punched me in the face and knocked me out. I'm not sure, but I think logging out unconscious puts you back in as a fresh spawn, which look similar to what the OP describes. Or did I misunderstand how the logout+unconscious works? Not exactly itching to test the theory!
DeatHTaX 1217 Posted August 3, 2014 Dude, I dunno about you but Random sounds are one of my major annoyances/gripes. They've been in since Day 1 of the release and it's been 8 months of non-stop soda-can-popping-zombie-screaming-ammo-splitting ever since. I'm so fucking happy for this news I could piss myself. Meh it never really bothered me that much, but that's just me. What DOES bother me is falling from a chair and dying. THAT is a serious annoyance for me. I mean I actually kind of got used to the random sounds lol. So fixing random sounds that don't necessarily effect your character directly is high enough on the priority list to fix but addressing fall damage isn't? *confused* Start crying, it helps bro. It also helps when you learn how to quote lol And what? Am I not allowed to bring forth a valid point in regards to this subject? Go home, troll
theirongiant 200 Posted August 3, 2014 Happened to me today and I only play on one server, imo it's a stupid mechanic, if you're wanting to provide some disincentive to combat logging then leave a players gear in game and lootable/hideable for two minutes after they log out. Killing players who aren't in the game is weak sauce, as is putting players in game before they are properly connected.

DeatHTaX 1217 Posted August 3, 2014 Random sounds are the #1 issue. But I don't believe that they're fixed ...really...random sounds is the #1 issue with the game? Out of EVERYTHING else wrong with the game you think random sounds is #1.... More important than... Zombies clipping through wallsGraphical inconsistencies with buildingsWall peekingHackingItem DupingFall DamageGun balancingClunky Movement systemAnd so on... Now I'm all for people having their own opinions and everything...but it is absolutely foolish for you to say that random noises are the #1 issue
Elvis 22222222 31 Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) This happened to me on my first or second character when I first started playing. I just assumed it was a stupid common glitch so I backed out and joined back again. I got all my crap back when I rejoined, and was put back in my original place too. I did this right away not even moving my the new guy, just back out fast I guess. Edited August 4, 2014 by Elvis 22222222
Greaves 131 Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) Like other people said, try sticking to the same server. I still have my character from months ago, because i always play on the same server. Pick one you might like, add to favourites before joining it, and try it out. If that server doesn't do it for you, delete it from favourites and repeat. yeinzy 5 Posted August 4, 2014 some servers are that you spawn fresh, try to go to history into the same server you played on and see if you still fresh :P
RAM-bo4250 213 Posted August 4, 2014 (edited) Also try sticking to the same group of servers (ie:vilayer.com or gameservers.com). It used to happen to me but now I stay at one group of servers. Hardcore and regular servers hadn't made a difference to me. I have never yet fully lost a character. EXCEPT by death. Death By Crowbar 1213 Posted August 4, 2014 I logged this issue last week:http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=14948 Not sure if that is what you ran into, but I found it odd that all containers or clothing (anything not inside something) was retained but the items inside the containers disappeared. Going back to the server I'd just came from fixed it, somehow. There is definitely work to be done in this area - any time you change servers you do take some risks. If you think it's a bug, don't just gripe about it log it in the bug tracker with any details you can think of. That's the whole point of Early Access Alpha, if you don't submit bugs and feedback it's not going to get addressed.
