A 4 meter fall still kills your character...

I find it baffling that they made these adjustments to the movement system, yet have still not even touched the fall damage issues. Especially since now zombies when they die near you can push you off ledges. (Has happened to me twice.)

Oh and anyone else having buildings randomly catapult them across the map? Because this has happened to me twice so far.

It sure does need some work, I can jump from a grain silo and survive yet I put a pair of boots on and break a leg.

Fall damage is broken since Arma 2, dunno about Arma1, didn't played.

I wish they would looked into it but I doubt they will do.'

For now I don't think you even need those 4 meters, I'm pretty sure fall from 1 meter can be deadly.

So I take it no one else has been rocket-manned across the map yet? lol

Truth.

However, I consider this a pretty serious issue. I mean I figured that with the overhaul (if you can call it that) to movement, etc. and fixing issues with random leg breakings, they would have addressed this as well. But I guess there are more things that are important than falling from 5 - 10 feet in the air and dying. :/

For some reason ("...") you don't believe 4 meter are a deadly height. Even 1 meter could be a deadly height, especially in the circumstance someone (a zombie) kicks you from the gap and you gonna land on your head.

I totally agree they need to tweak the falldamage, also i don't c it as the next major adjustment - there is more important stuff to do before, imho.

hmmmm 4 meters is roughly 13 feet, which is a pretty good drop with a backpack full of gear and a weapon in your hand.

Because you always have full gear and a weapon in your hand when a fall from that height kills you

regardless, anywhere between 8 ft and up is pretty much lethal, which is absolutely obnoxious. It should have a high chance to break your legs, for sure, but death?

come on, caboose -.-

Good drop to break your legs and bust your feets/ankles, but to die?

A human can drown in a teaspoon of water, so it's quite possible to get killed from a 10 ft drop.  Anyway, OP made a rant with no physical proof of his height from which he fell so this thread is as usual, redundant.

But should jump from firestation roof kill you or not?

Oh I'm sorry, I forgot to have the reflexes of a fighter pilot when i fell from a roughly 3 - 4 meter fall to take the screenshot.

Would a picture of my "you are dead" screen have sufficed?

and I wouldn't call this a rant. I brought up a legitimate concern and posed a serious question.

seriously caboose. you're not even trying lol xD your trolling is weak, sir. very weak.

That's the point, if YOU JUMP u probably gonna land on your feets earn some broken bones. If u strumble and fall down or get kicked from the roof you probably won't land on your feets.

I think his point is that it's silly a tumble from such heights leaves you unscathed/not dead and a small drop off a ledge kills you :P

but I see your point

Fall distances should be worked but the bigger issue at hand is how the game decides you have fallen...

Many have died on ladders cause the game thinks you fell off of it.

Also I have gone to climb down a ladder and had it throw me off the ladder before and kill me (my last regular mode death)

Or the fact that going to the second floor on a highly populated server will sometimes cause the game to think your still on the first floor and that you must have fallen and then kill you.

The game seems all to happy to decide you have broken a leg or died without a second though

Then report it or up vote it on the bug tracker instead of making redundant threads repeating the same issues over and over.

There are reports of people's parachutes failing while skydiving & living after impact.

There are also reports of people tripping over a curb & dying.

I don't think it's unfair to ask the community whether or not fall damage should be addressed in the next patch, especially with citing concerns regarding the current one, as well as to ask them if they have been catapulted across the map since the latest patch (sharing a unique experience), which I posted a thumbnail of, and could provide more if you need some more "proof" of what happened.

Once again caboose, showing how incredibly inept you are at any kind of discussion.

Begone, troll

It's amazing how rubbery a human looks when bouncing off the ground

Those are most likely head trauma injuries.  The problem with DayZ's falling is that it doesn't represent anything like real life.  There is no flailing in mid fall, we fall with the same camera angle as we walk/run

The only trolling is you creating an identical thread of an identical thread of an identical thread.  If you can't alpha, maybe you should take a break.

I have encountered the several foot fall killing me many a time, however I have yet to be catapulted off of a building. I would think this would have been fixed by now.

I wouldn't deem it "unfair", but the devs obviously have their priorities set. They're also the ones with the extensive programming & video game design knowledge.

I imagine that fall damage at this point in development is fairly low priority.

Can we discuss how we would like to see it in the finished state? Sure.

Should we try to have it addressed in the next patch? I personally don't believe that's necessary. The devs know far better than we do.

EDIT: god..DAMN do I look good as a red-head.

Well, more than half of the human body is made of water.  :)

Those are most likely head trauma injuries.  The problem with DayZ's falling is that it doesn't represent anything like real life.  There is no flailing in mid fall, we fall with the same camera angle as we walk/run

I very much agree. Both head & neck injuries most likely. & I'm sure such incidents consist of the elderly more often than not.

I just figured that if we're gonna chase the realism factor like a greased up pig, I might as well toss a few realism curveballs of my own.  ;)

Heh, maybe they will add a trip/fall animation so people can see what's really happening before they get the "you are dead" screen :D
