Doors and the Infected

I`ve just bought the game and I am still waiting for it to download.

My question is: If I get in a house or building when the infected are chasing me and close all doors, will I be safe? I mean, can they open doors and get in too?

I`ve searched the forum but couldn`t find any answer to this. Sorry if I am repeating a question.

No. Right now there is an issue with zombies walking through walls.

 

However, if you go into a house without a zombie chasing you, and you go up some stairs, you should be set.

Currently zombies are bugged and will go through walls, you should be safe upstairs though.

On the experimental branch zombie pathfinding is being worked on. They cant open doors or go through them or walls. They can be trapped in rooms and they can go upstairs, however there are still bugs with it. Some may still go through.
