DayZ Standalone very laggy

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I am very new to DayZ Standalone, have recently downloaded it, and am facing some serious lag issues. I am running it on a stock thinkpad T440s that contains the following:

4th Gen Haswell processor i5 (3MB Cache, up to 2.60GHz)

Intel HD Graphics 4400 (integrated I believe)

8 GB RAM

500 GB HDD

Windows 8

I have heard that the integrated graphics cards usually do not work well with games but have also heard intel has designed this specific series so as to be usable by gamers. Another major issue is that I have no trouble with Dark Souls 2, just DayZ and the system requirements seem to be similar for both games.

I have changed the configuration file (resolution) in DayZ as well as the in game settings (I turned almost everything off or to very low) and while it seems to improve the video quality it does nothing for the lag, which is virtually unplayable.

Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time!

dark souls 2 is really well optimized for PC. dayZ on the other hand is just unplayable on all but the top 5% of PC's at the moment. the system requirements for dayZ are really not accurate at all.

Edit: *Would the DayZ Mod be a better option?

i wouldn't think so, they're both pretty horrible for FPS. arma 2 is horrendous so having a mod of that only seems to complicate things! my advice would be to just play other games and wait it out until dayz becomes playable for the 95%. (if that ever happens, it's been out a fair while and the FPS has only got worse :/)
