So how do YOU play DayZ

Recommended Posts

Me and my friends (we are playing "Hero Style" and call ourselves the Sad Men's Zombie Club [sMZC]) had a weird playing experience the other night. I call it weird because it never occurred to me to play DayZ like that and maybe I'm the one that's weird.

We found a server by some criteria that I don't remember and met some people. After establishing our mutual friendlyness we started moving along. They invited us to a Teamspeak-Server which we logged on to - even though we have our own server. The TS-server was extremly structured which struck me as odd but nonetheless we kept playing and had a good time. The people we met were a very heterogenous group, one guy in their 30's one 21 and another that sounded more like a 13 year old. We met up with a fourth person and had a lot of fun fooling around.

Then another guy logged into the TS server and asked "what town are you guys in" and i replied tounge-in-cheek in the spirit of our sillyness something to the effect of "we're in blabla, but only death awaits you here". The guy was suddenly superpissed, telling me to answer in a polite manner when he asks me a question. The he went off.

I was confused asking the other dudes "did you know that guy? No they didn't. Then it dawned on me. None of tose guys knew each other. They meet prior to logging on to a server in Teamspeak, make arrangements on where to meet and loot an otherwise empty server. This was very new to me and the opposite of how we are used to play this game. Go to a server and try to find people. Tag along if they are friendly - fight back if they are not. How do you guys play DayZ. How do you "select" a Server?

TL;DR: I was unaware of the fact that some people look up servers that have an obligatory Teamspeak-Server tied to them. They hook up over TS, meet in the game and start looting together. Who does that? Doesn't this rob the game of it's core experience?
