Well, the M249 & PKM don't have their own folders, unlike the AK74M and MP5, so it just seems interesting. Plus. most of the MP5Ks attachments are listed as "MP5", so it's quite possible they could be used for multiple MP5 types, something the devs would surely make use of. Dunno, it's just interesting, as I said before.

Don't see why they need more than one MP5 type.

They've put in a very modular MP5K, which can essentially substitute for any MP5 variant under the sun via attachments.

Well, they could do an MP5SD variant, which would save some work finding a suppressor, but I guess that wouldn't be compatible with any foregrip handguard.

I wouldn't object to a full sized MP5 since the performance could be a bit different, but it would be negligible at best. They could do an MP5A2 or MP5A3 which has no burst capability, to tier SMGs, but that's hardly enough to really say that its "worse". It just doesn't make too much sense to me that you can remove the handguard of it when clearly nothing but other MP5s could take it. (And to a lesser extent the stock, although I do think the stockless MP5K looks badass, so I can believe that)

I dunno. The only real reason they'd add more is for variety's sake, which I wouldn't complain about.

Then why not add the regular mp5 with a full length stock and almost no modularity.

Same reasoning I see for adding the m44 or m38 , relatively close to the 9130 but no modularity and more common than the modular version.

Both of these could be Police Dept spawns. MP5 is still crazy popular in Law Enforcement world wide. MP5k I am not sure.

They could just have the current MP5K be able to attach a suppressor (be it the generic "pistol" suppressor or a dedicated 9mm suppressor), with the same effect.

I'm not opposed to the MP5 and MP5K being included. But it's just redundant, so I don't see it happening. Especially now, when they're just trying to get a skeleton-esque idea of a weapons lineup. It'd be like expecting a Mk 18 when you've already got an M4A1.

Because it's redundant. You can have other SMGs be the non-modular ones, like the PM-73. See the example I use above. There's no great desire to blurt out every AR-15 variant for variety's sake, because they very quickly become redundant as far as DayZ is concerned from a pragmatic standpoint.

Pretty sure the MP5K is already a police spawn. I don't really see a need for the M44 aside from just tossing it in for variety's sake.

MP5Ks are all over. Either way, trying to split hairs between the MP5K and MP5 is a bit silly. They're the same inasmuch as it concerns DayZ.

So is life. I see nothing wrong with redundancy when it is realistic and authentic for this very reason I am not opposed to seeing 5 or 6 different ak variants because it would make sense.

Artificial variety is not that great.

Well unfortunately the developers have a job to do, and redundancy doesn't serve pragmatic development objectives when they can actually vary the types of weapons available to the player. They don't gain anything by adding two MP5s, when they can add two different weapons entirely with the same effect (see the MP5K/PM-73).

Likewise, there's a difference between redundant variety and variety. Redundant variety would be putting in every AR-15 variant under the sun. Variety would be putting in every weapon under the sun.

Moreover, your definition and use of "realistic and authentic" isn't really accurate (for one, they aren't interchangeable terms), or applicable, as I've demonstrated multiple times in the past.

This is a fictional medium, all of the variety in DayZ is artificial.

To reiterate, I'm not against the addition of most (if not all) weapons... their variants included. But it's just not feasible, necessary, or useful at this time for them to be adding in multiple variants of what would essentially be the same weapon. Also, with the attachment system, that is sort of already provided for anyhow.

Being able to sport an MP5 in each hand would be sexy.....

Just saying...

That's awesome that they're adding in a medic uniform but red is more of firefighter color. At least anywhere I've worked we always used dark blue colors.

I believe you, that in Canada it is like that. But nope, in eastern Europe paramedics do not wear blue.
