Logging out..?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know the exact time of how long you stay in game after logging out?

Yesterday, I lost internet connection in Chernaya, and when I logged on today I was fresh spawn.

I've always thought it's like 30 seconds before you disappear, but the chances of me getting killed there in 30 seconds are so tiny..

So anyone know?

It is thirty seconds. Crazy shit happens man, ya never know. As for being a fresh spawn, just deal with it. You arent the first person to die unknowingly. :P

did you Login right after maintenance? not all Server get immediate Connection to hives after maintenance! therefore giving u a fresh spawn when joining! and overwriting your old character when the Server, where u spawned fresh, gets the coonection to central hive again! SEEN ?!?

If you logging out and zombie hit you and you start bleeding, this cancels logging out process? No?

Or if you logging out and zombie hit you and you go unconscious and log out when unconscious then you die? No?

The worst that happened to me was when my friends and I wanted to leave the server and my first buddy and I logged out but the 3rd needed some time and got shot in the face 1 second before logging out. That bugged the shit out of me for a long time. That bad luck with the timing...

It also could have been zeds. If you ever saw a zombie attacking a bush randomly and won't recognize you at all = Player who logged out in the bush.

Also for the zeds... You can catch aggro from 2 kilometers, they can chase you for miles without you even knowing about it, and when you logging out they glitch through walls and get you

No. The logging out process doesn't stop if the character gets injured during it. If the character gets knocked out (or handcuffed) during the process, the character will die.

Couple of thoughts here.

I ran into a friendly a while back and we decided to move to a higher pop server to have some fun. I had him log first so I could actually watch what his char did during that process. It is about 30 seconds, and your char may sit down as if you'd hit one of the F keys that makes you sit.

There are zeds that can keep aggro for literally miles. If you'd been running for a while before logging out, one that was chasing you that you may have not even known about may have caught up to you and killed you.

It's also possible another player could have found and killed you in that short amount of time. Never ever assume you're alone (unless you hit "P" and see noone else on the server).

To be safe, always try to:

  1. Camp on the 2nd floor of a building where loot is not commonly found. This will help avoid zed death.
  2. Wait a good minute or two before camping to ensure no zeds or players are around.
  3. Make sure you didn't log out in a Regular server and then log back into a Hardcore server on accident. They're different hives.
  4. The same as #3 but make sure you're on Stable vs Experimental. They're different hives.
  5. Make sure you're on the public hive and not a private hive.
  6. Understand that, even with the best precautions, there are enough people who complain about logging in naked that there may be something else at play beyond your control - the whole "Alpha" thing and the software not being anywhere near completed. You may have done nothing wrong, you may just have gotten some bad luck that's a part of playing an early access alpha product.

This is the first game I have played where the log out time begins after you actually leave the game.  I am so use to having to wait "insert number of seconds here" in game while logging out, this way if you are attacked you can actually defend yourself and they try and log out again afterwards.

That would encourage combat logging.

Fast example.

You are trapped in the building you know that bandits are outside, so you sit in the building hit log out and wait for timer. If bandits will attack, you just cancel and fight if they not you log out and dodge combat.

So highly exploitable system in PvP situations in game like DayZ.

So the log out system we have now finally prevents many combat log outs.

Good luck with that..  Zeds can now climb to the top floor of any building to gnaw your face off.

This is sad, but yesterday after about three hours of playing and finding not a single firing gun on a picked clean server, I was in the town hall in Novodmitrovsk, and as I came around the corner there was a player stood in the corner of the room doing that creepy logout thing where they look around the room with empty eyes.  Of course, I punched him out, took his shotgun and killed him, took what stuff he had and then checked the player list, there was no one else on the server, so this poor bastard had literally logged off in the only place on the map there was another player, I bet when he logs back in he wll be convinced his character was lost and not killed by me.

I love killing people that have logged out, it feels naughty.

contrary to advice given earlier in this thread, never log out on the second floor of a building.   When you spawn into the world for all intents and purposes you & everything else is dropped into the world (this is how you end up with Z's on building roof's, they didn't climb up there), for this reason, sometimes you will fall through the floor and die, or live and end up being stuck in the geometry.

Lets be honest a second.  If someone actually can sit down for thirty seconds to log out of the game, its a bit of a stretch to call it "combat logging" because you are obviously not actively engaging them.  Sure it will make logging out safer then right now and you could easily counter your issue but making the log out process not only make you sit down but it puts your weapons away.  So if they rush you while you are trying to log out not only are you sitting down but you don't even have a gun drawn.

Like I said, this is the first game (even one with open world PvP) were you are blindly logging out and stuck in game for 30 seconds afterwards.  What happens if I log out and then log back into another server during that 30 seconds?  You only get the "please wait" timer if you jump servers quicker than 30 minutes right?

The log out system that we have now is the best log out system to combat combat logging that ever was in DayZ.

And in my opinion the time when you sit in game logging out should be increased from 30 seconds to 5 minutes.

Now I am unsure if you are just trolling me.  Five minutes would be stupid and again what happens if you log back in before the game logs you back out?  Does your former self still try and log out?  If it is killed is there a tear the fabric of time and the Dayz world is sucked into a black hole?
