More Zombie Variety - Z's with Equipmentslots

How about this. Instead of modeling complete zombies with clothing and all, create "naked" models and give the z's equipment slots for clothing.

This way you can randomize the clothing sets of the zombies and it would give the rotting hordes much more variety. Also you can punch a zombie down and steal his clothes, which is actually kinda weird.

 

I dont know if this would have an impact on the performance, or if its even worth it to put this feature in, but im kinda bored of fighting zombie clones.

I'm not coder, but if zombie would not use standard zombie clothes but the in game clothes then every zombie would have to had network bubble like a players and that would had major impact on performance.

 

Like playing on server with 700 players maybe. Maybe someone who knows about coding can correct me if I'm wrong.

I read a thread when somebody was talking about that, it seems he was knowing what he was talking about. Btw, I can't remember what thread and can't send a link. Atm I'm lazy... hehe.

 

Anyway, in substance he was talking about the clothes and items if players corpses didn't disappeared after their death and how so many corpses+players with items at the same time on the server would cause problem of performance. I think it is quite the same problem with this suggestion.

 

What should be done is creating more zombies skins like in the mod. What should be awesome is to have tons of different skins.

 

I bet not the most important concern for the dev's at the moment. We'll see.

They already explained why the zombies where one entity and not equipment entity's like the players, it would quadruple the drawcalls and half the fps by 4 or more times.
