Quelq1 0 Posted July 8, 2014 (edited) Since private servers (with PBO modifications allowed) would completely ruin the game, why not make the BI signature key system for mission and server PBOs ? With this we would be able to host private servers but still with officials files with no modifications and vanilla settings :)Sorry for my bad english Edited July 8, 2014 by Quelq1
Chaingunfighter 917 Posted July 8, 2014 Then what would be the point of them? It's like saying that you're allowed to have your own building, but it must be built identically to every other building around it, there's nothing to really show for it. But, we already know that that's not what they're going to do. Most of the dev team is in full support of having large scale mods or total game conversions, even Dean himself. They could all be wrong about what's best for the game, but the chances of them completely removing modding are slim at best. And no, mods will not ruin vanilla DayZ. Thats what they are doing now with the public servers. The only purpose the signature has, is to prevent people from joining with unwanted or edited files. Quelq1 0 Posted July 8, 2014 (edited) The point of this system would be to allow people to host their own server without the expensive GSPs, that's all. I already have a dedicated server for my game servers, this way I could use it to host a DayZ server without extra costs. When I said 'ruin' I was speaking of my experience with DayZ Mods. it was so hard to find a good survival server without "1000 cars, spawn with gear, loot everywhere" that I finished making my own server..
