QuackerJack 2 Posted July 4, 2014 My brother and I share a computer but have separate Steam accounts. I installed DayZ a couple days ago and have been enjoying it. My brother wanted to start playing too, so he bought a copy on his Steam account. However, when he starts to play, it loads my character. Is it not possible to play on separate Steam accounts on the same computer?
blaeZ 95 Posted July 4, 2014 Did you log out of your steam account and log into your brothers before launching the game?
QuackerJack 2 Posted July 4, 2014 Yes, I switched Steam accounts, but my character loaded on his account.
crizztl 23 Posted July 4, 2014 It's definitely possible. Did you actually join? Because the main screen will always show the last character, regardless of what account. Also, the DayZ ingame name is bound to the steam install, not the DayZ account.
QuackerJack 2 Posted July 4, 2014 I started the game, and the name was my brother's and the character had my brother's loadout. I did not try to join a server because I didn't want to screw up my brother's character. I'll try joining a server and see if it actually is his character. I am hoping I don't have to have multiple Windows accounts and switch back and forth between them as well as Steam.
QuackerJack 2 Posted July 5, 2014 Ok, I went ahead and joined a server and even though the name and character looked like my brother's, it started a whole new game. When I quit and my brother swtiched to his Steam account, it showed my name and my character but once he joined the server, it worked. Thank you
