doctajones 123 Posted June 27, 2014 With the advent of hunting and fishing, I think more civilian sport gear should be added to accommodate this. Check out some of my suggestions and feel free to post your own. Fishing PolesFrom what I have heard and seen, so far you can only make an improvised fishing rod from an ashwood stick and some rope. You should be able to find a real fishing pole in residential areas. Also, since the poles are quite large, a quite rare telescoping/collapsible rod to place in our backpacks. Tackle BoxSo far, there are only 3 container items in the game: ammo box, med kit, and protector case. A tackle box would be a cool addition to hold your worms, hooks and maybe even that collapsible rod if you can find one! With worms stacking in only groups of 3, they can take quite a bit of space in your inventory. I propose the tackle box to be your standard 2x2, but holds 2x3 (vertically long) to hold a 3 slot collapsible rod. There could also be a larger tackle bag, but this may not be necessary. Hunting and/or Fishing VestAt this point there are no civilian vests in the game. Unless you are lucky, you usually have to venture to military areas to grab a vest, so I think a Hunting and/or Fishing vest is in order. These civilian vests can be smaller than the assault vests to provide incentives to still look for those, but these would also be more common. Army Knife / MultitoolThe classic swiss army knife, holding short blades, a can opener, screw driver, etc all in a 1x1 slot. These should be extremely rare due to their versatility in use and small size.
11tw 106 Posted June 27, 2014 cool, like all of these. However it would be annoying if they were too common, I don't want to be finding nothing but fishing rods!
pilgrim* 3514 Posted June 27, 2014 I thought that if you had an empty can, you could keep quite a lot of worms in it, as is common in reallife fishingjust an idea very cheap carbon or glass-fibre chinese rods are pretty common these days worldwide. kind of thing many local residents might have behind the backdoor or in the outhouse - split down into three sections, weigh hardly anything, no problem to carry

On a similar note, what if with pliers you could furnish an improvised hook out of soda can pop top? very cheap carbon or glass-fibre chinese rods are pretty common these days worldwide. kind of thing many local residents might have behind the backdoor or in the outhouse - split down into three sections, weigh hardly anything, no problem to carryThis is a bit what I am talking about. As it stands, the most efficient way to hold your improvised fishing pole is to put it on your back rather than a melee weapon. These rods you speak of should be able to be kept in your backpack or potentially a tackle box/bag. Then, you can have your hoe or shovel to dig more worms or an axe to chop wood for a fire. It simply takes too much itemization / effort to fish and cook, a few simple additions could ease this solo survival dilemma.
vladomir 8 Posted July 1, 2014 I like the idea... With all the coastal villages there is bound to be a fishing pole here and there...and a tackle box... Maybe spawn in some of the row boats you can find on the shores if not poles and boxes a hook or two would be nice in the boats.
