Re-Patch

Random Questions

Recommended Posts

Hi @ All

As this is my first post, I'll start with a short introduction.

I'm re-patch, coming from Switzerland, I'm going to be 27 years old in 5 days.

If you want to know anything specific, go ahead and ask :D

Before I get to my questions, I noticed that once you start writing your topics title, the forum automatically shows recent/older threads with similar topic titles. This is the first time I'm seeing such a feature in a forum, that's very nice & a good way to avoid double posts I guess. Please do forgive me if some of my questions should have been answered already, I didn't check the search for every single one of them.

So, I do have several random questions, would be glad if someone could help me clarify.

1.   condition of longe range scope

I've heard quite some time ago that the condition of the long range scope actually matters, e.g. they were saying that if you use a damaged or badly damaged one, you might have to aim slightly to the upper right of your target. Was that ever the case/confirmed by the defs.?

2.   are the compensator (mosin) and the bipod actually working?

I have a feeling that the compensator is not working at all, regardless what condition it is. It should reduce recoil right?
The bipod is working (I'm pretty sure from testing myself), even though it's not possible anymore to mount in on the Mosin at the moment, hope this gets fixed soon.

3.   patch 0.46, long range scope, compensator & bipod

I'm not sure how to put this so you get my meaning...

I know about the fact that for longer ranges you still can't see the bullet hole/dispersion, meaning there is at the moment no way to correctly adjust after a missed shot. I know about the not working bipod and the shaking of the crosshair (which I got "fixed" by binding it onto three different keys) as well. BUT, considering all this, I still have had like 10-20 shots in the last few days, for which I was 100% sure that they should've been hits (between 300 and 850 meters). I know some of them might be because of desync, lagg, whatever, but is it possible that there was some major change to the Mosins behavior I know nothing about? Because I didn't have a problem at all to hit targets up to 600 meters and know I do. Any ideas?

4.   condition of weapon attachement

I'm wondering about the weapon attachements (for all weapons) condition. Are there really any disadvantages in using attachements that are either worn, damaged or badly damaged? It feels like most of those "stats" aren't really working/have not been implemented yet. Is that possible? If not, which are working/important to know and which are not? For the M4 I found that a complete magpul (you call it like that?) attachement set in pristine works wonders (precision etc.) compared to other setups for example.

5.   shooting (the mosin) and other weapons while prone and lying in grass

Usually I'm crouched when I'm shooting with the Mosin. However, there are several spots where prone would be much better.

I have a feeling though that there are spots where the grass is blocking all the shots. Is that true? Even if the landscape is pretty flat in front of you? That happens of course mostly when you're trying to shoot "up" a little bit, I found it's not a problem when you are lying and shooting at a target more below (logical because there is no grass in the way then).

6.   is that correct?

I've read the following about DayZ, is that viable? If so, why the "last few slots"?

"items get damaged according to their position in the inventory container. The last few slots in a full backpack are generally safe and a good place to store bandages and morphine (keeping your bag stuffed with useless items is a good thing, actually. I used to laugh at noobs who carried stuff that wasn't implemented fully)"

7.   how does breaking free of the handcuffs work?

Do I need to be crouched? What keys (what order etc.) do I have to press?

8.   can someone explain to me how that statement below is meant?

rocks and trees with low branches have different hitboxes than displayed up close, so aim well away from them.

Is that what happened to me when I tried to crouch to far backwards into a tree and the shot hit the "invisible" branch in front of me?

I can't remember more, there are one or two more things I wanted to know... I'll edit as soon as I remember :P

Thanks for helping me & have a good time everyone

cheers,
RePatch

1. no, this is not the case

2. yes they are working (bipod got removed from mosin btw), they both reduce bullet spread

3. no idea...

4. yes, magpul is the best, and i think there is a difference for attachements that have different conditions

5. no, grass shouldnt block your shots, but some bushes with do (the ones you cant walk through)

6. thats wrong. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDHpIS8GR-8

7. press e or q

8. some bushes have hitboxes (the ones you cant walk right throug), thats why you cant shoot through

please tell me if i have something wrong guys :)

Was there something in the changelog or is that a discovered bug? I hope they do not remove it from existing configurations.

With LRS you usually have to aim bit to right and above when going for long distance shots, even with pristine.

Suppressor doesn't work, scopes have incorrect magnification, and I don't think compensator works either.

@ Rotteck

Thanks for your answers!

I officialy handed out my first beans :beans: (to you).

If someone has more information, I'd still be very happy to hear it :D

1.

Okay, so I'm gonna test with the next "badly damaged" LRS that I find, I didn't even bother to do so because I heard that rumours.

That should be working fine just like "pristine" then, thanks a lot.

2.
Perfect, thanks.

3.
Anyone?

4.
Okay, well that's what I thought too.

Do you or someone else have details on which weapon/attachement is important and which isn't etc.?
Because I've heard rumours like "You only make sure you use a pristine handguard" or "be sure to have a pristine buttstock" for example.

5.
Thanks for clearing up that one :)

6.
Nice, will watch it later, thanks again :)

7.
Okay, and only that? No need to crouch/prone anything like that?

8.
Okay, pretty sure that is what happened then. That goes for trees & bushes, I need to test that a little more.

@Umberfive

I heard (I didn't check the changelog yet) it was a bug and it should return (but once again, might be just rumours as well).

@GeneralZod

Zod when does that start, where is the point where it isn't (vertically) correct anymore?
Because up until 800 I'm 100% sure it's spot on, I've hit many targets already.

I'd guess it's about 900/950+, is that possible?

About the compensator, well this is what I heard too, that's why I was asking whether it is really working or not :)

Thanks guys & have a nice one everyone

I used to snipe a lot and at 500+ I generally went at head hight maybe few millimetres above for certain chest hit. Same for bit to the right. Maybe they improved the accuracy, I haven't used the mosin in a while.

That's one of my hunting days

4. important are atm the buttstock the handguard (they will increase or decrease accuracy depending on their kind and condition), and maybe the bipod, when prone

7. no, i think it doesnt matter if you crouch crawlor stand.

oh, you can also move slowly while restrained (only while standing obviously) by pressing the movement keys w, a, s, d

the compensator should work, it should have the same effect on the mosin as the deployed bipod while prone had

Sorry, I forgot about that post :)

I haven't used it now for some time either, mainly because you often need several hits now (because of that stupid protection through clothes/items whatever). But thanks for your input, appreciate it.

Haha you sure got yourself some practise on that picture mate :D

@rotteck

Thanks for the explanation. I haven't been handcuffed ever since and thus didn't have the chance to try again, but I will eventually I guess :)
