Sinaz20 0 Posted June 28, 2012 I was just thinking that it would be cool if firing any non-suppressed weapon would basically have a chance of spawning a zombie local to you at the cusp of the gunshot agro range. Limited to whether or not you have already spawned a zombie.I imagine this befuddling the serial sniper, but also making hunting a risk, and large firefights ensuring a zombie presence no matter where they occur.[edit]I might mention that I envisioned this per chance zombie to spawn in an non-agro'd state. So the shot that summons the zombie would not also agro it.[/edit]
matt.gilmurray@gmail.com 46 Posted June 28, 2012 Wow why would you even suggest that snipers are usually one hit kill and it would make killing hordes harder. No.

Bipedalius 0 Posted June 28, 2012 Yeah I'm not really sure what he meant either.Sinaz are you insane though? Why on Earth would you suggest such a thing?
andrewhatesyou 1 Posted June 28, 2012 Horrible idea, if I shoot in the middle of nowhere how would it be realistic for a zombie to spawn right near me? You know, zombies were people so they would be in populated areas and not in the middle of nowhere.
Sinaz20 0 Posted June 28, 2012 Horrible idea' date=' if I shoot in the middle of nowhere how would it be realistic for a zombie to spawn right near me? You know, zombies were people so they would be in populated areas and not in the middle of nowhere.[/quote']Sure I hear that--But I see a bunch of people asking for wandering zombie hordes and the like-- at the moment, they only spawn around these points of interest where loot spawns exist--So zombies already spawn right near you, with a few checks to try not to spawn them literally on top of you when you approach towns. There is no realism to how zombies enter and exit the world-- they do so based on your proximity. Also, consider that you spend most of the time in this game exploring and hiking without firing your weapon-- so it's not like I'm suggesting that zombies will just start raining down on you.I'm suggesting that when you fire your weapon, you take a random chance of introducing one zombie near your location, provided you haven't already spawned one in such a way.Admittedly, I don't know what the range is for a zombie hearing various firearms-- so maybe it would make sense to amend the idea with spawning a zombie at a fixed distance of say, 100m or so, and have them set to investigate the source of the gunshot (you.)This introduces a potential but NOT definite chance that firing your weapon will bring a lone zombie to your location. You are out hunting-- you fire a shot to kill a boar. You then scan around you-- any zombies? Yes? No? Maybe? It doesn't sound that insane to me-- it feels like a good wildcard to keep people mobile and alert when they are using their weapons. Camping/sniping-- it becomes more of a risk because for every shot you take from relative safety, you risk inviting a random wandering zed onto your flank. It would simply keep you from resting on your laurels.Heh-- I think it would be an awesome moment to be focused on sniping someone across a field, then suddenly a zombie shows up to harass me-- I'd probably shit a brick! :D
WhiteTigerShiro 25 Posted June 28, 2012 I'm against this idea, purely because being aware of your surroundings is a big part of the game. If I know for a fact that there aren't any zombies near me, and I fire-off my gun (be it at a player or an animal), I don't want some zombie to be summoned from the nether. Hell, it's annoying enough when you're in town and firing your gun is a death sentence for your ammo supply, I don't need that out in the wilderness, too.
