Bashing cans off rocks/throwing on ground + spoon

So if you were in DayZ and were starving to death but had a can off beans, would you just sit and stare at them while you slowly died or would you try bashing them open?

 

I think everyone knows the answer.

 

Will we see that as an option? I think they should add it but it should assure that you get 50% of the food at a maximum, meaning you could sometimes only get 1% so it's not perfect.

 

And also a spoon, either to eat what's in cans quicker or to scoop some off the ground.

If you dropped bacon on the ground and were almost dead from starvation would you just leave it there and hope you find some more when you probably won't? Hell no. (not that you couldn't pick bacon up with your hands)

 

With a spoon plus smashing the can if for example you only keep 25% in the can you should be able to get another half of that back off the ground, at the risk of food poisoning. Or maybe just 10%

And maybe you have to eat it instead of letting it make a mess of nice clean rags or whatever.

 

 

And if you have a can opener and spoon maybe the meal is more satisfying because a whole can of food doesn't seem to do much otherwise you can eat like 4 before hitting light green energized status. Most people would probably be feeling sick after that many beans.

 

 

So much food goes to waste in this game and it needs to stop, think of the children!

You can open cans by rubbing them into hard ground like asphalt and have 99-100% of the contents left.

Well yeah that would be too easy but smashing them open and losing most of the contents is better than dying because you can't when even a 5 year old could probably work it out.

I'm not opposed to the idea, but it should be a last resort kind of thing. I wouldn't even want to see a yield of 50% maximum. Maybe 30% at the most.

Yeah 50% is a lot, but in the game currently it doesn't mean much 50% is like a tenth of what you need to get energized. When cans become more rare and fill you up a lot better then 30% would be better.

 

With this I think using an axe or knife it should always give you over 50% because how do you cut the top open with an axe and lose 80% of the contents? :|

 

So with both it works out, starving you need to make the choice to keep searching and hopefully find a tool to open it with or risk bashing it open and still starving.

Or find the awesome glory that is a can opener.
