xender 2 Posted June 18, 2014 This is discussion, you should try to use ale your knowlegde about DayZ engine and write right answer than meaningless words :P
dgeesio 1034 Posted June 18, 2014 Since you have obviously not been following the development of the game, and seem to be completely oblivious to the fact that they are going to introduce navmesh for zombies, then I find the rest of your post impossible to take seriously, as it is likely written on the same mixture of ignorance and prejudice.i dont follow played this since the mod released and many thousands of hrs. i read forums everyday and ass you can see by my post counts beans whatever i do watch and acknowledge whats going on. what you cant seem to grasp is BI dont rush they dont do things quick and even after 5 -10 years the same games are still buggy clunky. so if you think whatever babble they tell you on here is going to make that stop you sir are deluded. dont get me wrong the games great fun but some of the things just cant be fixed properly and wont be fixed totally.
p4triot 207 Posted June 18, 2014 (edited) Well, they can be fixed... I don't understand how you got to that conclusion- is DayZ the only online game you have ever played? These problems don't exist in other games unless you have an absolutely horrible connection to the server like 300+ ping. Lag warps and desync should not exist with current gaming technology when you're on a server with under 60ms ping. That is a problem specific to this game (/possibly the ARMA series, I haven't played it only the DayZ SA and know the engines are very similar) and not a common problem caused by current tech. Yes, desync and lag warps exists on every other game not just ArmA series. What makes ArmA infinitely worst when playing it is his poorly optimization especially when it comes to client side (your computer). Lets put this example:Imagine theres a building with a ladder on one side of it, a ladder you want (and must) climb to set yourself free from the chase of a zombie horde. Now imagine this very same scenario in 2 different engines. - 1st Engine: ArmA engineYou run straight to the ladder, when you get close to it, you CANT climb, because your PC is ASKING to the server what are the options available (lulz), so you just stare to that ladder until the server responds, minimum time estimated: your ping(asking) + server process time based on tickrate + your ping again(recieving) plus your human response time, then you select option "climb ladder" and here we go again, client asking, server reacting, client recieving. Congratulations, you have been staring at that ladder like an idiot for over 1.5 seonds MINIMUM with BEST OPTIMAL CONDITIONS, more than enough for the zombie horde to run 12m and hit you. But worst, what happens if the server is having a lag spike, desync problem at the moment? you're screwed, dude. 1.5 seconds can turn to 4, 5, 10... - 2nd Engine: Almost every online game non ArmAYou run straight to the ladder, when you get close to it, your client ALREADY KNOWS he can climb that ladder, he just starts climbing it (not even have to wait human reaction time since you were anticipating pushing 'E' at the precise moment). Client TELLS (dont ask) the server he is climbing that ladder, server confirms action is legal, and takes measures if not (like teleporting you back). Server may suffer of desync or lag spikes anyway, but from client side, you dont even notice. You just went, climb the ladder with 0 delay, and the server can aknowledge whenever the fuck he wants, you dont care, you are already climbing as long as you're concerned. The result is a much more smooth and natural feeling when playing. This is what ArmA doesn't have, almost for everything. (Have you ever noticed when opening the option menu over an item in the inventory? it says receiving for a while before showing up the options, this idiot client doesnt even know what to do with a can of soda without asking the server first. Just nonsense). Edited June 18, 2014 by p4triot
pale1776 375 Posted June 18, 2014 Just to be a smartass, it doesn't exist in single player games :PYes it does, ever played Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater? Any explosion whatsoever and the lag dropped a damn PS2 to 4 fps while it was happening XD
instynct 99 Posted June 18, 2014 (edited) It's highly unlikely 'infusion' will change anything,.... it's just a modified version of the current engine which is complete garbage. And do you not see how slow the progress is? Edited June 18, 2014 by Andromeda
leguizamo2040@gmail.com 14 Posted June 18, 2014 read too much ignorance. Hoping this negatively people will leave game soon enough haha
