Spawning

I think that in Day Z, a new feature that should be added is choosing where you can spawn just like in the mod. It would be very helpful and make a better experience. Like you can spawn near or in a city near the area you want to spawn. I know about all the problems this can cause but I am just suggesting this idea.

so that way ppl dont have to kill himself to re-re-re-re-spawn where they want ? If you cant handle random spawn point then .... anyway I played some mod with spawn point choise

The spawn point lottery is part of what makes DayZ so good IMO. I'd rather they worked on combating suiciding for respawning than allowed players to select their spawn point TBH.

yep, random is best.  But I do believe there needs to be a sign close so that you can see where you are.  I spawned in the middle of nowhere and didn't see a sign for 10 minutes on a road

I'm ok with random spawns, but I still think a brief backstory for your character would be awesome.  Just something simple like:

 

Ex 1: You ran East from Gorka to escape the horde.

 

Ex 2: The last thing you remember is a storm at sea before washing up on shore.

 

Ex 3: Your boat sank just off the coast near Chernogorsk and you swam to land.

 

Ex 4: You were heading for Svetlojarsk and got lost in the woods.

 

The idea that everyone in Chernarus appeared with no idea where they were last is so ridiculous it makes my brain hurt.  At least this way you would have some vague idea of where you are starting out, or at least a story to explain why you don't know.
