How often does this happen? (Captured-Released)

Recommended Posts

Well this is a first for me. Someone recently got the jump on me. Not only am I alive out of the ordeal, but i wasn't even robbed!

I was running around Balota air field, someone in a Barracks heard me.

I clumsily run into the top room. "Freeze." I turn to my right, and there is an SKS pointed at me from not 3 feet away.

There is a man knelt in the corner, his gun drawn on me.  I shoulder my gun and put my hands up.

"Oh good." He says. SItuation completely diffused.

I kneel down, we chat for a bit, he asks me to lay down as he leaves the building.

No handcuffs, no rotten fruit or disinfectant. He just carried on.

On his way out he asked me if I had any friends outside. I told him the truth, "No, I am solo".

Glad I could repay his kindness by not lying to him.

Thanks random guy!

I've done these things a fair amount of times. Just to make sure I could take my hide out of the sticky situation without anyone getting in trouble =) Good for you, though!

I often am the dude pointing the gun, not killing whom I'm holding up and not even taking anything. Short chat, offering basic supplies, assessing the situation and then taking my leave without a trace, no one armed in the end.

  Good for you to have stumbled upon a good fellow!

I've done this a few times as well. It just isn't necessary to kill everything with a pulse. Especially with this suicidal mentality going around, I believe players who accept them being outgunned by raising their hands should be royally rewarded for not attempting some bizarre escape/kill. People who raise their hands make this game more fun. The last one received a fully kitted FNX with 3 mags. If I knock you out in a gunfight, however, I'll cuff you, saline bag you and think of a fun way to end it for you.

People are so weird. I saw a guy today near some small town. I completely had the jump on him and could have been a douche but instead I shouldered my weapon and walked toward him. I announce myself by saying, "Hey man, how's it goin?" No response, I don't even think he saw me. Then I put my hands up to show I'm not threatening and again I say hello. He stops, sees me, and creeps over to a bush and hides behind it. Then I see him un-shoulder his weapon. That's when I booked.

There could be far more civility in the game but people just act foolish.

yea most people won't stop 2 seconds before trying to kill you met 1 cool guy south of berezino since I started playing, can't count how many glitcher and hackers i have seen not to mention the kos mentality that has taken over this game, cool story maybe more people can realize you don't have to kill if you get the drop on someone, it is more fun to take a captive for a bit and then let them go imo

Well I was tricked the other day, went by the ATC, saw a figure in the window, "Ey I see you buddy." he calls out friendly, I go in with my gun on my back. Then proceeds to cuff me, take my stuff and shoot me.

Eh, I suppose it was a bit more amusing than just being killed on sight. Though I've learnt, never trust a fuckin' Jerry.

From my experience, I am far (far, far, far) more likely to be shot or robbed blind if I submit instead of trying to fight/flee.  So you are the rare player who does't just take it to a lethal level.  Now when I am on the other end of the gun I try to give the other guy option to come out of the situation alive but in the end I am far more interested in my survival than theirs.  So if they act suspicious or there are long pausing in voice communication, things tend to escalate.

Submit if you are certain to die anyway.

If you have an escape route, though, book it. It's not worth trusting them not to shoot once you're helpless.

If they weren't going to shoot you in the first place, they aren't as likely to shoot to kill when you flee anyway.

This is totally the way I feel - but if you talk to people or watch youtube when people flee the thought of, "Well, you didn't comply now I've got to shoot ya" often comes into play. It's totally Russian roulette, a total coin flip, as to how someone will react. As annoying as that is it adds to many things that keep the game interesting. I normally don't KOS or randomly attack anyone, but one day I was killed 3 times within 10 minutes of spawning and the 4th time I spawned I lost it and ran after the first guy I saw even though I was a fresh spawn and had nothing but my shirt, pants, and an empty stomach.

Pretty rare. You got lucky. Anyone else would have killed you. I was in Svet one day and we ran into two guys. We handcuffed them in the Jail and took all of their shit. It was hilarious, really.

Exactly. 9/10 players will gladly take advantage over your surrender. Some will even torture, when given the chance. I do agree that in most cases, running/fighting is the viable option. However, when you're properly cornered, you should give up. For example, if a player comes waltzing in with a drawn weapon while you have yours holstered and there's no cover near, accept your defeat. There's no way out, not even a slight chance of survival.

If a clan of four yells "come out with your hands up" when you're looting the jail, make a stand. Kill as many as you can, since there is a chance of survival.

I also keep an eye out for quirky behaviour on my captive's part, like the long pause in comm. It's happened to me before that teammates arrived, trying to kill me. Surprisingly, the last time that happened I killed all three of them, since they carried out their attack very poorly.

Wish there were more like you. The ones that didnt shoot at me right away were more interested in handcuffing me .
