Wakarusa 0 Posted June 8, 2014 It seems that ever since the beta went obsolete and GameSpy shut down, Operation Arrowhead has not been running right. I have uninstalled both and reinstalled only Arrowhead (because beta is obsolete), and updated everything needed to be updated in DayZ commander. So what is happening now is that whenever I try to even launch Operation Arrowhead, a black screen greets me and the game just crashes with an error message (something about not finding Chernarus I will have to add what it actually says later). Can anyone please help me?
Dchil 829 Posted June 8, 2014 You need to have Arma 2 installed with Operation arrow head. OA did not come with the Chernarus map as it did not need it for it's campaign. However Arma 2 did. You also need to run both before installing DayZ so you have a player profile ready to go.

Dchil 829 Posted June 8, 2014 Yes, because he clearly would not know that. The need to have A2 installed or the need to run it. If it's A2 then clearly he does not know that as he specifically said that he did not re-install A2 only OA. The need to run it? Well I like to cover all the bases I think of at the time. When i told him to reinstall OA and delete the beta (as that fixed it for me) he gets a black screen now, He's not retarded and he has played the game plenty. Though the new update means all you have to do for steam is:Download and install A2 and OA (and open it, as said before)Right click on OA and go to betasSelect betas from the drop down.Wait for it to install.Go to steam and install the DayZ mod through it. Done.

If you're trying to get help here, do not throw around the r-word, especially not towards people that are trying to help you. Consider this a verbal warning, there was no need to be that aggressive. As Dchil mentioned, this is all you need to get the newest Beta-Patch. The only way to acquire the newest Betas is through Steam, as the old system is obsolete now and enw patches will only be distributed via Steam. However, I may as well try what you have said here considering that I have no other clue of what to do despite trying the thing that VibroKnife has told me. (Which should have worked)

Also, he just wants to see the types of responses that I am getting so that I may not be mislead. Dchil is trying to help me indeed, but there may be others who post misleading things and thus, his aggression can be forgiven for just trying to help me as well. It's subjunctive. It never happened. You have received help and the way it works in Troubleshooting that you always have to rule out some things, which Dchil did. If your friend immediately jumps on Dchil, it is not acceptable, as this indicates he will do so in future, without any reason. There was no reason to do it in this case, not even preemptively. This is nothing but a warning, that you shouldn't be aggressive nor abusive on this forum. If he continues, real warnings will follow. I'm not saying you guys are idiots but I actually had a friend only install OA and then wondered why he couldn't play even when the instructions he say said to install both. He also is fairly good with computers. Sometimes people make mistakes or overlook things which can be fixed simply.

johnnylube 3 Posted July 1, 2014 The issue with which bit?? Dayz mod vanilla public hive servers are running fine and still available through Dayz Commander. Quite a few private hive servers running various mods wont run in Commander and quite a few are refusing to start full stop. Seems the transfer from Gamespy to Steam was a bit of a mess with unseen troubles. Still it is a big undertaking I guess.
