Sooden 301 Posted June 7, 2014 When searching forums for information on camp fires, I saw posts in that topic talking about, 'cant make it to easy to live in the forest , as they will never go to cities and have gun fights'... I giggle for a bit (cus they want people to play it their way). But Leaving the cities and setting up a camp, with hunting and water collection; self sufficient base, is a plan for most peppers. so it should be an option in DayZ... What got my goat is.. why do some people not want to see this? do they not like the idea of people having fun, sitting in the woods and avoiding all the gun nuts? All input welcome. Murlough 192 Posted June 7, 2014 (edited) You said it yourself. They dont want that because they want things thier way. Which apparently is pvp with zombies.I think you should be able to be completely self-sufficient in the woods but it should be hard as SHIT. Animal attacks, poison plants, not enough nutrients from certain foods, etc.The way id personally want it is being able to create a fortress of my own that i have food growing(if farming is introduced) and a large stock of items and ammo from my runs to the city.Edit: And hopefully find a decent enough area not to get attacked all the time from the friendly neighborhood KoSers. Sooden 301 Posted June 7, 2014 (edited) out of town settlement would give game play options for people that don't want to fight (unless found) and going into a town may be needed if they add more detailed medical (having to find antibiotic, sure some plant have them in the woods; but one, you have to know which, two,how to extract them, 3, calculate dosage). so visit to a town may still be needed, but you just send out one person on a mission to get needed item that cant be found in the woods. added: or a team visit to a town (good fun). thing is, players option, not a force need... they can just let that one ill person die :P But food, water and shelter, that should all be posable out side cities. Pvt_Larry (DayZ) 98 Posted June 7, 2014 I'll be setting up Woodbury, with anyone that would like to follow. No zombie fight pit though, that sh*t got too weird for me...
Murlough 192 Posted June 8, 2014 I'll be setting up Woodbury, with anyone that would like to follow. No zombie fight pit though, that sh*t got too weird for me... Thats exactly what i want to do! Except have more of a Rick's Prison kinda feel. Like send a group out for medical supplies or having guys watch the walls. When you think about it the roleplaying aspect of the game becomes limitless xD. Zombie pit fight was silly though ill agree to that.
randomspawn 215 Posted June 8, 2014 I think you guys are confused. It's not that we don't want that playstyle, it's that we don't want to be FORCED to play that way. If you want to hunt squirrels and grow onions in the woods, more power to you. Just don't make it where the only way to have enough food is via hunting/farming(I'm pretty sure they won't). I have no problems with hermits playing the game. We have those kind of people in real life, so I expect to see them in-game too. The map is big, and even if they manage to get over 40 players on each server(I'm starting to have doubts), the map is plenty big enough to support totally separate playstyles. Encampments, prisons, cities, farms and all that can exist. I suspect we will see groups raiding each other, which will keep some spice alive.
Murlough 192 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) -snip- I agree it shouldn't be the only playstyle. I just want it to be A playstyle. No one said it should be the only one because that would be boring as shit. I understand the map is huge. Thats WHY i want to find an area in the woods that is currently unoccupied to make my fortress. If there were no cities then there wouldn't be a point in finding a secluded area for my base would there? If that were the case then everyone would just hunt, raid, and steal everyone else's supplies which would bring us back to the were we are now (PVP central.)My main point is i think you and i actually agree on what should come in the future just that you may have misinterpreted the thread a little (or i misinterpretted yours xD.)Side note: I have no problem with PVP as thats part of the game and will always be. I just wish there was a bit less to make room for other things. Edited June 8, 2014 by Murlough

Dawgstyl 51 Posted June 8, 2014 The guys in our clan have been playing (EXP branch) and we ONLY head to town for supply's(ammo, knives, axes, rags and matches) and its a totally different game. I've got over 3 dozenBoar and Deer, kills some with guns and some with a melee weapon, Good change of pace until they put in more stuff. We did get board one night and spelled SOS with camp fires.
hombrecz 832 Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) Hopey they add more stuff to craft from animal pelts and improve crafting in general. I'll be setting up Woodbury, with anyone that would like to follow. No zombie fight pit though, that sh*t got too weird for me... I dig the picture in your signature Larry. It shows spirit and I like that! Beans for Larry's losers.
