DayZ mod better then Standalone?

Recommended Posts

see thats the great thing about the SA. The cancer of private hives has not yet begun metastasizing.

and by "cancer" you mean the only thing that prevents server hopping and ghosting while making people play at night?

"MULTI-TIER DONATOR PERKS: SAFE CAMPS W/ VEHICLES - CUSTOM LOADOUT - RESERVED SLOTS - 100.000 VEHICLES SELFBLOODBAG AUTOREPAIR AUTOREFULE SELFDICKSUCK SPWAN W/ NVG, GPS AND 2xDMR YOLOSWAG420 ::: PAYPAL ACCEPTED :::" - thats not the survival experience i expect from the game.

server hopping is done by people who want instant gratification, private hives just throw the loot at such players in massive amounts, either through customization of loot tables or directly through perks. so you dont get rid of the "gief all nao, i dun wanna work for my gear" mentality, you feed it.

ghosting is only an issue in a very limited subset of encounters, and can be addressed by other means than isolating the server from the hive and thus removing a core game mechanic completely.

i acknowledge the wish for modding, and i see the advantages of being able to run isolated instances of the game. i just think the downsides are not worth it.

I was starting to enjoy the mod before this latest 1.8.1 version. I had a decent group of friends playing and one by one the chorus of "f*ck this" grew louder and louder. I've spent the last two hours playing by myself so I just started the process of rolling back to an earlier version. Seems like it's going to be a hassle too.

Maybe you should give feedback on the issues in place of just ignoring them. Might wont to think about the reasons on what you feel is wrong and start with that.

We can only fix the issues we know about.

I gave feedback; for days actually. I was all over the feedback thread prior to this past weekend. You explained the limitations that you're dealing with and the issues that you're working on very well. I understand, and appreciate the hard work that you and the other devs are doing. You and I even agreed on many things, but that did not stop the exodus. This is not a good single-player game, and I did not enjoy playing alone last evening. The super-zeds go from frustrating, to novel, to boring very quickly. Sneaking past them is mind-numbing, engaging them is too costly, and the reward for either is just loot to kill zeds with. The other players are the point.

We could have more players if we turn into a causal game sure. Last time i looked dayz was never designed to be a pickup and play system. DayZ isn't for everyone just like many other games.

For now all we have is to survive all the loot you get is to allow you to survive.

However you should give epoch a try its got a little more to do and has a bigger crafting system and base building system.

Bought the Standalone in February, played it up til April.

Then BI had that 75% off sale on Arma 2 CO around late March, thought "heck $6 I'll give it a shot". Been playing mod since then, haven't touched SA at all.

Way more variety, via the various submods epoch namalsk etc. More design features. Better game. If I get a hankering for pretty graphics I play Arma 3 mods. Might get back to SA in 6 months if any degree of housing / vehicles are ever implemented
