My buddy found a few and I am currently trying to find the izh to test them. But are they back in game, rare find, or what? Cuqah 22 Posted June 2, 2014 pretty sure they are still in the game, but as more and more items have been added and are being added, they are becoming increasingly difficult to find. but then again, a single item is pretty impossible to find when you need it and are looking for it. Bororm 1156 Posted June 2, 2014 They aren't currently on stable, I don't know about experimental but I don't think so. You can find them from players who haven't played in a long time. I had a character who carried some, and I did try to load them into a shotgun, but you can't, there is no "Load ammo" option for them, just inspect and dragging them to the gun doesn't work either. Is it hard to properly configure ammo type and have it in loot tables?I loved shotty slugs as it gave me option to engage targets that were further away then some 40 meters or so. Hard to say, maybe it is because devs have so much on the plate, that they moved shotgun tweaks down the road.Anyway I hope shotgun gets fixed later, I so much enjoy running with one, but I hate when I put 2 shots into somebody in close range, ruin all his stuff, but leaving him otherwise unharmed. Unlike in other shooters the ammo says what the weapon has to do and not the other way around unless they switched to another type of ammo classification which would be stupid since the ammo class system worked well fora decade and you don't only have to configure weapons beeing able to use this and that ammo type/caliber and just give the weapon it's accuracy value. That's what made ArmA 2 so special, the ammo itself did the same so if you had an AK47 and AKM which use 7.62x39mm the performance is pretty much the same, if you had a M4 and a M16 the difference would be a slightly better accuracy and power at longer ranges on the M16 due to the longer barrel ( correct me if i'm wrong ). In BF/CoD games you have fantasy values all over the place where it shouldn't matter due to the distances you shoot in f.e. CoD. A 5.45x39 out of a AK74U shouldn't make that less damage or the accuracy wouldn't have such a negative impact in those shooting distances compared to a AKS-74 imo or shotguns only useful at 5m due to the larger damage potential and spread. F*ck balancing and i hope they don't go that way and warp the reality of the engine.The shotgun in ArmA was a bit shiity on the slug side and a bit OP on the pellet side imo. Slugs had ignorable damage up to 50m and of course it's hard to hit targets with a slow flying slug beyond that distance but pellets were still quite effective beyond 100m which was quite weird. I had occasions where i kileld players with pellets just by spraying the area around them as if i was using a mortar/old cannon or RPG with OG-7 grenades. Bororm 1156 Posted June 2, 2014 Thanks for the explanation Enforcer, I kinda suspected that's how it works. It just seems like maybe they fucked up some where when they redid the guns in the SA. Yeah pellets in the mod were king, I ran the double barrel near exclusively for a long time. You are totally right, and I'd tell people not to even bother with slugs. Most of them, never actually using shotguns thought I was stupid, but pellets could break your leg or cause you to bleed even beyond 100m. My buddy broke a guy's leg from the cherno tower to the firestation once, that's about 200m which is pretty far for a shotgun! I dig the shotgun in the SA but it's not quite as good, even with pellets. You can still destroy people at certain ranges for sure, but I find distance shots mainly just tickle folk unless you get extremely lucky. I did kill a guy at like 40m the other day in one shot, I think I must have landed a pellet or two on his head. All that said though, I'm looking forward to slugs in the SA just to see how they work out. Maybe, unlike the mod, they'll be really deadly and offer some much needed range options to the shotgun.
