Some questions regarding the AK-74

Recommended Posts

AK-47 is nearly identical to the AKM they have, unless you mean the AK-74.

And yeah, people probably would use grenades to kill new spawns, but it would be more wasteful than anything. They already have tons of options in various guns, which would actually be much easier to use. Grenades would be saved for taking out groups of enemies. I'm not sure people would ever need to use them on zombies considering how easily bullets or melee can kill them.

And I doubt too much server hopping would happen, sort of like the engraved 1911, it's pretty damn cool but I doubt most people go around server hopping just to get one of them.

Oops yeah 74, used to typing 47

Exactly as the bold says, zombies are so easy to deal with that you wouldn't need to blow them up anyway, so people would more often than not just save them to use on people because they're not needed for anything else. Except maybe vehicles, if someone had some armour plating over the windshield a grenade launcher would be good then.

I wouldn't mind a grenade launcher if there was like literally one grenade in a random location in each server so that having a grip is more viable. Or perhaps since they're adding fog soon they could just add launchable smoke grenades that are more common, maybe even tear gas the former would be excellent for creating some cover at an airfield so you can get in one of the buildings away from any snipers..

That would make it an awesome piece of kit but not overpower it (direct hit by any grenade from close range should do serious damage of course)

I think you guys get too hung up on what these guys say and take it as gospel.  It doesn't mean they wont add in different cartridges later.

Oh well, this is forums for discussions and what devs say, is taken rather seriously even if it can be changed later.

I really hope they will reconsider this whole crazyness about weapons using incorrect calibers.

Yea a 40mm grenade launcher would not be a problem.

It is commonly found all over the world and is by no means high tech.

The 40mm could provide some interesting gameplay if they include realistic methods of aiming it in both normal fire and high angle fire.

Giving players a makeshift short range 400m mortar at the squad level would be fun.

Not to mention the crafting potential 40mm rounds would have especially with how diverse they are.

Oh, they are common?  Where can I get one in Maine, USA?  Because that would be boss.

As far as crafting special 40mm rounds, the inconsistency in you boys concerning realism in this game is astounding.  You have problems with ammo and guns, dispersion and movement, but morphine healing broken bones and crafting working bows out of sticks is ridiculous.

There's a gun shop at the Kittery Trading Post, I hear they've got a good selection of 40mm HE grenades...

We're talking post-apocalyptic, where there's no longer laws of ownership bounding anyone to what they can and can't have. Granted, here in the US, the military is extremely strict on its weaponry, to the point of always storing the guns and ammo at two separate locations, but actual M203s are a common sight when in combat situations. You'll probably never see them on soldiers guarding places here at home, but in an invasion of a foreign country/invasion of the US/viral outbreak/whatever, you'd definitely find some in the abandoned bases.

And actually, get enough cash and fill out the necessary destructive device paperwork and licensing and you can get a grenade launcher :) (never actually being able to use it, though [legally])

Go to any national guard depo or army depo in the US and you literally will find hundreds of thousands of them.

These depo sites litter the US.

However these round ate far more common in eastern Europe one only had to look at any modern conflict to see how abundant they are.

Syria, chechnia, Ukraine, Serbia all conflicts where 40mm grenades and launchers are all easily found.

Hundreds of thousands is a gross overstatement I wager.

It's actually not.

These depos are quite literally just storage facilities for weapons and ammo.

The US military buys these grenades at ridiculously low prices it is Vietnam tech after all.

I hope not because it was a really cool concept. Hopefully the green pellets come back for the pump shotgun coming out.

I was under the impression that we had buckshot already, and it was the green-shelled slugs that had been removed.
