Just got killed at the powerplant outside of electro... saw a guy commin in and went to keep an eye on him out of site (i was already inside). he had a few zeds and a makarov so i got on direct com and said

"friendly, don't shoot! Leave the zeds, your pistol will agro more"

so i crossbows the zeds (headshots thankyou very much!). then i point my weapon at the floor and he panics and emties a mag into me... since i didn't have much blood to start with i was done.

Once found a guy with a makarov holding off an army of zombies. I ran in helped out pointed my M16 at the floor and asked the guy if he had a compass. He ignored me as he looted the bodies, so I asked him in text in direct chat to make sure he understood me. When I said I'd give him my MP5 for a compass, he turned around and popped me in the head, insta-killing me.

Pointless killing. I ran back, collected my M16 that he left, killed him on the road a mile south and looted back what he took, finding he had 2 compasses packed in his (or should I say my) ALICE pack.

I don't get these people. I found one guy in electro with a broken leg. He asked for help, offered his pistol, which I declined, and waited as I raced off (fresh spawn, no gear on me) to look for morphine. Lucky for him, I found a corpse with a bunch of stuff on it (M1911, Lee with no ammo, morphine, blood pack, etc) and I raced back to help him. I repaired his leg, followed him to the electro store and backed him up as we took sniper fire.

But that wasn't enough. Another player taking fire ran into the store, and attempted to kill us with a crossbow. We returned fire and he disconnected (reconnecting later to get eaten by zombies thanks to the 5-minute uncon timer). When the random friendly finally took a sniper round and died, another person stormed the store for the loot.

I placed a round in his back as he raced by, thinking he was the sniper. He wasn't.

I returned to my hiding spot, hoping the zombie horde gathering outside wouldn't signal there to be life inside the store, but once again another person came in. Now I was freaked out as he ran straight at me, so I fired a Lee Enfield round at him and killed him. Another person ran into the store firing an AK at everything that moved, and hit me and a large number of zombies. When the zeds were dead, he finished me off, only to die to another guy outside armed with a shotgun.

When I returned later, I found another few bodies added to the pile (none looted) and the schoolhouse had been blown up, along with the wreckage of some truck. All I have to say is: Reddit Servers are wierd.

Not been anywhere near Electro ... or for that matter the power plant/firehouse in Electro.

*Most* people in Electro are there for one of two reasons:

(1) They don't know any better

(2) They want to kill people who don't know any better

Both will get you killed.

The justifications for PK'ing are getting increasingly laboured. Basically they amount to 'the game allows PK'ing so we're going to do that all the time "to survive"'. So far, in a few days playing, I've been shot at (and bar two times killed) 6 times. Each time I either didn't have a weapon or was just going about my business and was shot at from cover by someone of whose presence I was unaware. I was therefore no conceivable threat and I doubt if the extra flashlight the killers bagged enhanced their survival chances much. The only time I'd give the guy a pass was when me and the other player entered the same barn from different ends - he panicked, loosed of a few shots, missed each time, ran out of ammo and legged it.

Friendly (possibly at least) players met: 1. He was stuck behind barbed wire which maybe accounted for the friendliness. Unknowns: 3. Two of these were potentially friendly in that they sidled of into the undergrowth instead of immediately opening fire. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say they didn't want a confrontation but weren't inclined to be trusting, though they could just have been out of ammo or angling for a better shot. Since they didn't want to talk I didn't hang around to find out.

The game really needs some medium range comms so that players who want to play a zombie survival game instead of Arma multiplayer deathmatch can have a chance to talk to each other before it becomes as up close and personal as the final scene in Reservoir Dogs.
