Shotgun most worthless weapon the game?

I was just chillin on the experimental servers, looting the town with no name (South of Novo), I was in the Piano house when I heard footsteps from above, so obviously someone is there.

 

I try with the old "Hello, I'm friendly downstairs". No response.

I peek the stairs and see this guy shutting the door, while having my shotgun in hands I try to further communicate with him, but still no response. I heard him loading a weapon and I see him heading downstairs towards me. 

 

I back off and take position, I see him rushing downstairs. I pull off my two shotgun shell on him, both hit him. The range was about 3 meters.

As I thought he was dead, I see the person just standing there, I didnt reload my weapon since I thought he was dead, as he obviously should have been from that range. But he turns around and shoots me in the foot! I quickly head outside and run around the building, he's still inside so I pull off two more shells into him as he was standing still, bandaging. This obviously hit him, and the range was about 5 meters. But he's still up! So I take cover, reload and pull off two more shells into his poor body and it looks like he broke his legs. I go around the building again to quickly bandage, theres no way he survived this. When I check the building, he's gone, nothing's there.

 

Did he combat log? Why did he not die? Is the shotgun really that bad?

 

FYI: The shotgun was not sawed off

 

It's probably because of the shotgun's spread. Lots of the pellets either plain miss or is dispersed across the body, where different clothing absorbs the damage.

Regular shot gun is not really worthwhile. Sawn off is a whole 'nother beast though. Thing is a deadly killer. People just have issues aiming with it. It's killed 1 hit everytime i've used it. But I guess that's just luck and the the pellets were all on point.

Well I found that when you aim the gun model has to cover the persons head or you'll shoot way to low. if you saw his chest as you shot, you would have hit he'es toes. This only goes for the shotgun tho. i think its easyer to just use the small dot to aim and not right-click zoom.

 

I usually gear minimalist, and like to use the shotgun/blaze 95 as my main gun. both is very effective.

While my experience is pretty limited the instances I saw a shotgun in action against players it was pretty deadly.

 

Maybe you hit him in the chaest and the damage was partially soaked up by his gear? Theodore Roosevelt approves of this method.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have shot been blown open at point blank by a shotgun. But it takes more than that to stop a Bullmoose.

Shotgun is great even better than SKS in some situations , you better learn to shoot i've already got few nice kills vs armed guys with shotgun , tho the saw off version has a bit more recoil but it's ok :)

I feel like most pistols are worse than the shotgun and sawed-off, because without a mag you can't fire it rapidly, you can't really hit anything at 50 meters, and I'm pretty sure some pellets would hit targets at that range. Revolver on the other hand doesn't need a detachable mag and is way more accurate.

I totally agree , being somewhat a shotgun fan and especially pallets shells , you can pretty much kill or knockout multiple targets if they are close to each other , is great for zombies hordes...
