Tips for Hunting Survivors

Recommended Posts

Looking for tips on hunting survivors. Whats an easy weapon to get for good hunting? Good spots, good locations? What type of gear would you suggest? Where can you find it? How many licks does it take to get the center of a toosie pop?

Also, to be clear, Im not interest in where the best prey with loot is, I just want to kill people. And, yes, I realize some people get pissy about that.

You can easily rack up a lot of kills with just a lee enfield, because it's a one hit kill and it's very effective at long ranges.

Get a ghillie and hide in high grass or near bushes, also pine trees can provide very effective cover even if you don't have a ghillie, you can find all of these in residential areas, although the ghillie is a bit harder to find (1/400 or so I've heard)

But, if you're going for a more ''professional'' kind of gear, you could farm up north for a DMR, NVG's and of course, the ghillie suit.

If you want to get up close and personal the M4A1 CCO SD is very effective, silenced and with a nice optics, I'd say it's effective up to 200 meters, the non-silenced version is also very effective, same optics but different camo and better range.

And then there's the unstoppable gear.

An AS50/M107, rangefinder + NVG's, wookie suit or a mk.48, which take a good amount of time to obtain, mostly through crashed chopper or hunting other players.

So yeah, it just depends on how much time you want to sink into it.

First tip with player hunting: Never get too in love with a rare gun. You will probably die quicker then a survivor.

A good setup and not very rare: AKM with 4+ mags, DMR or CZ + 2 grenades + 2 smoke nades to get the zombies out of your face when you are about to fire.

If you are in range (10 to 200 meters), start by throwing a grenade, wait for it to explode, then finish them, most of the time they will die by the grenade, but sometimes they will just pass out and bleed.

If you are at 200+ meters, well, just snipe them.

good spots are hills overlooking loot areas, never camp at the crest of the hill, everyone looks there, also know your surroundings, i fly around on armory mode to see what the terrain is like in the game, see what will be in the way and all that.

Don't listen to people just telling you to get a good gun. That's not a tip, that's common knowledge. Like I'm going to play every life with a Makarov. Thanks for the great tip, genius, maybe I should put my dick away after I piss, too? What a tip! Anyhow, play smart with whatever weapon you have. A dumbass with a good gun is still a dumbass. Your best weapon is your brain and ingenuity is your ammunition. That being said:

-Mobility! I once saw a sniper in Cherno from 200 meters out. I only had 3 rounds left for my AK-74. I scored one hit, but then I was dry and with only my 1911 to finish this guy. Using concealment, rapid flanking, and ladders, I closed the distance to 65 meters and fired two magazines of .45 at him before tagging him with a lucky headshot. I looted him for his CZ550 and ALICE. He was just a dumbass with a good gun who had wedged himself into a shit position which afforded him no escape. Move fast, control the engagement.

-Instinct! If your gut tells you that mayhe something is fishy about your situation, then something is definitely fishy. You see 15 zeds walking around that deer stand 200 meters away? $100 says there's a group of survivors looting it right now.

-Wear headphones! Sound so clear you can hear the insects fucking. I'm the only member of my small band to wear headphones and I'm always the first one to hear shots fired from a long way off. Headphones also allow for a very distinct left/right sensation for audio. If a shot is fired within earshot if me, I will hunt that guy down.

-Shoot first, don't hang around to ask questions! See someone? Shoot them dead at the earliest quality opportunity. Maybe they were a really nice person. Oh well. Loot them fast and then run. Every pair of hostile ears that heard your murder is going to be descending on your area to investigate. You can either get as far from the crime scene as possible, or get a few hundred yards away and knock down the buzzards as they appear.

-Know how to get in AND out! Going into Cherno to kill some survivors in glorious house to house combat? Great, have fun and be safe. But first, take one mealsy minute to plan one ingress route and at least two egress routes. If you only plan one escape route and suddenly a band of survivors starts coming at you from that direction, you're going to be ass out when the bullets start flying with nowhere to run, and you can't stick your head up to look because then you get your skull ventilated. Always always always plan your moves. It takes 30 seconds to come up with the most basic plan, and that can save you hours of working to get your loot back.

if you have a group i made a thread on a insanely effective strategy me and my clan use. you can do this with at least like 2 guys. best with 3. need 1 spotter and 1 good sniper. 3rd guy scavenged ( not the most needed ). we can usually hop into cherno and get 1 enfield and 10 min later the whole city is ours :)

get yourself a ghille suit, a sniper rifle then hide in the hills around cherno and elektro. Also rangefinders are awesome but rare. If you dont have one make a mental note of the distance to land marks.

Good advice but the AS50 is not effective at all during night time. I choose the DMR as my sniper rifle of choice. But I have yet to see or try an SVD...
