_Profile_Shame 37 Posted June 28, 2012 idea to fix people disconnecting when in conflict with other players - if there is another player within say 100m of you, disconnecting will cause your body to stay for as long as the player is still within the defined radiusso if someone tries to disconnect in the middle of a firefight, they would be leaving their npc just standing around waiting for the action action ACTION
Capercaillie 16 Posted June 28, 2012 what if someone just happens to be, say 100 meters from you while you legitimately disconnect and neither of you know about each other..?What if both players disconnect, will both bodies stay in the area until the other/both are killed? Is the disconnect timer (wait xx seconds standing still after pressing abort to actually disconnect) too simple a solution?
TheSexyGoat 5 Posted June 28, 2012 I wouls suggest that, if a player has spotted you, I mean, has spotted our nametag, whatever, your body should stay up for a few seconds if you log out. But what about the servers that doesn't have nametags enabled?:I think they could work on that somehow so they could detect when sameone has tracked another player. But now, disconnecting to avoid zombies is not that big of a deal, it's retarded, yeah, but to be honest I don't really care.
_Profile_Shame 37 Posted June 28, 2012 dont really mind about disconnecting to avoid zombies, but anything that can help in pvp fights is a good thing.. yeah i can see how it would punish people that were in the radius but not in a fight, maybe the spotting feature would be the way to go? i dont think there would be much change since there already is that tracking system in vanilla (nametags) like thesexygoat said
Capercaillie 16 Posted June 28, 2012 i just can't understand why is not the log off timer a good solution, to me these other suggestions often sound like complicated codework, and usually they have a major flaw already on the invention level. Why make things complicated when the answer is (probably) right under our noses.I can't find a single flaw from the disconnection timer. If you feel it is not a good solution, could you explain why?I'm not saying your ideas are bad, they just seem pretty complicated, and doesn't seem reasonable (to me atleast lol) to start actually coding them before there is a solution for the biggest what-if's in the suggested solutions. Imho, solutions should solve the problem WITHOUT adding extra problems.Dont take this shit offensively for it is definitely not meant to be offensive
_Profile_Shame 37 Posted July 6, 2012 nah dont worry about offending, youre right - most of the ideas i throw up are half baked, basically just a starting point for discussion because i am lazyi like the login timer, just needs to be longer
