Do fireaxes work on trees? better or worse than splittin' ax?

Yea, they work. I've had one that's been pristine through a few trees, so I think they may go through more trees than the splitting axe? I know my friend only got a few trees done before her splitting one was ruined, but then it may not have been pristine when she used it...
