Does typing in direct chat work?

Recommended Posts

In the mod, some people had to configure their AUDIO SETTINGS in order for other players to see typed chat in Direct Chat, which was painfully stupid, ridiculous, and otherwise mind-boggling. Has this been fixed? I've tried communicating to several people thus far, but to no avail.

Some people are still having issues AFAIK.

It seems to work 100% of the time for me, but other people have reported that direct chat does not work for them.

Really wish side chat would be implemented as an optional configuration on public hives. The walkie talkie is cool and all, but its radius needs an exponential boost.

Doesn't seem like it works. I've been running around in fully populated Hardcore servers for hours, trying to pester the occasional passerby, and to no avail.

There really needs to be some kind of proximity chat that's guaranteed to work with text instead of some ridiculously nonsensical "Direct Chat" bullsh*t that construes microphone chatter and text chat together.

I never have a problem with chat, I use it often at night when the wifey is sleeping. However, it's difficult to type and communicate and not make someone nervous leading them to shoot you. It's risky, lol.

It was removed from DayZ mod by the devs. It's a bit of an immersion breaker.
