sirmike 2 Posted May 18, 2014 Hello, Yesterday playing for the first time, i have seen many items that i couldn't pick up. After finding out on youtube that you can also see them via vicinity i tried getting it trough there.I have problems moving the items from vicinity to my inventory. It wont work really. What did work is putting the items in a quick slot below but the items would fill the quick slots as a gray looking item and eventually not work.Only slot 1 which i have a fire extuingisher in works. Does anyone know how i can put an item in to my backpack from the vicinity?
yogi92 50 Posted May 18, 2014 Some items spawn in locations that you cannot reach, like some chairs in school building and such. But most of the time, you can pick up items, either with your mouse or through inventory.
Fern Baron 128 Posted May 18, 2014 Make sure you're moving the items from your vicinity (far left of inventory screen) into empty slots either in your backpack, vest or clothing (far right of inventory screen). Clothing items, vests and backpacks at the right can be opened and closed to see their contents by clicking on the +/- icon to the bottom right of their picture. You have to have an item on your person before it can be added and used from the hotbar.

bauertschi 254 Posted May 19, 2014 (edited) If vicinity does not work, you can use a trick: A hoodie for example may not show up in vicinity. Now take of your shirt or whatever you wear the hoody would replace. Now you may be able to pick it up directly, because the spot on your char is free. Items like food etc. should always be possible to pick up, if you have enough free space in the inventory. Of course some things are simply too far away... . The_Habu 2 Posted May 19, 2014 If you drag it to you character it will drop it in a free space in your inventory. You can then move it to another place as long as you have enough spaces for that item. Some things take up more than 1 space.
