Ganbada 8 Posted May 16, 2014 Hello :) first of all. Thanks for this Masterpiece of Game. I Play Dayz SA since the first Day of Release. For a couple of days i remembered back to the early video where the Dev`s shows us the Walkie-Talkie and the possibility to play music with it. Its a nice Idea but not good enough to get it into the game. So, my Suggestion - a Walkman appears in the Loot (Needed Slots:2)- Headphones appears in the Loot (Needed Slots:1)- Different Cassettes appears in the Loot (Needed Slots:1)- A Cassette-Case appears in the Loot (Needed Slots:2)- AA-Batteries appear in the loot (Needed Slots:1) U have to combine the Walkman with the Headphones, the AA-Batteries and a Cassette to hear music. In the Cassette-Case, u can put in ur best Cassettes to protect them and get more space.(i think around 10 Slots) I know its complicated because of all the Music-Licence, but i think its something that could really fits in Dayz. Not only looking for the best Gun, also looking for the best Sound. ;) Hope u enjoy my Idea. have a nice Day and sorry for bad english iam German ^^

tommy290 941 Posted May 16, 2014 No ideas are stupid. Would give people something to do, which could be entertaining. Having to search for your favorite band or song would be interesting. But you'd also need to put in a pencil to help rewind the tape when it eventually got stuck in the player. ;)
Element47 2481 Posted May 16, 2014 excellent idea. regarding music licenses: you could let the walkman be an ingame music player. let the game read a music folder you specify and casettes consist of random tracks of your own music. thus you'd have no issues regarding licensing. you could of course still implement casettes with music from public domain.
AnyoneInCherno? 187 Posted May 16, 2014 Ive said this time and again. There should be two types of radios: Car and Stereo. Car is, well, in a car, and stereo takes up 4 slots in an inventory and must be placed. The system would work in a similar manner to APB:Reloaded, where you can put mp3's into a certain folder in the game. It worked perfectly in that game, and i think it could work well with DayZ
tommy290 941 Posted May 16, 2014 What would be amazing is if they could allow stereos to be placed while playing music. Stick it somewhere on full blast to attract the zeds away. How cool would that be?
pistaaaa 29 Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) That's just way too compicated and useless in the game inmho. You can listen to music anyway on your pc, and hearing footsteps and other players' voice is just too essential.A device to attract zombies however would be sweet. tommy290 941 Posted May 16, 2014 That's just way too compicated and useless in the game inmho. You can listen to music anyway on your pc, and hearing footsteps and other players' voice is just too essential. What you guys are forgetting is that it is only useless/non-essential to YOU and your playstyle. Part of what makes DayZ the game it is is the sandbox aspect. Having music and such might not fit your idea of how to play, but it could certainly increase immersion for other players. Does the game need a variety of food and drinks? No. One single source of food and one single source of drink is all that's needed. However, many people would find that unrealistic and want the variety, even though it serves no actual purpose other than immersion.
pistaaaa 29 Posted May 16, 2014 (edited) What you guys are forgetting is that it is only useless/non-essential to YOU and your playstyle. Dude! I loved Fallout 3 and NV and I loved the radio there and constantly listened to it. Also I hate the fact that this game is not an rpg at the moment, but a guerilla combat simulator. Still I say that it is hard to implement, and listening to music in a situation when you have to be constantly aware of zombies and bandits is just moronic. Also you have to communicate with your pals. It's a multiplayer game verbal communication is a huge part of it. And if you really want to, you can just start some music in the background. TrampledByTurtles 78 Posted May 18, 2014 I want the moment from Terminator Salvation, when that little girl plays the radio in the car and attracts that drone, to be in DayZ (except with zombies). I could imagine fully geared players showing off their equipment by sitting at their base playing loud music in their truck while they are watching the area, smoking cigarettes, drinking beer out of a cooler and cleaning their uncommon guns they found while they were finding parts for their truck. God I wish my friends would do shit like this in the future.
Ganbada 8 Posted May 19, 2014 i know its useless as long as u travel through populated Areas, but sometimes... when i just walk around and do nothing, i think of hearing a good Doors song or something Classic. I even make it sometimes with my Player in the Background but its not the same as searching for a Walkman and all necessary Stuff to hear music. Also later, it would be nice to hear some music near ur fireplace burning some meat on it and chill to the good sound. A Little Stereo would also be cool. In a Post-Apocalyptic Scenario, Music is something that remembers the good old Days. Would also be cool to find some Records/Audio-Logs from People around Chenarus who survived the Time where everything happens and listen to it. And when there are so many Books around the World, why not Music to collect?Sit down, hearing Music and read a really good book (what i sometimes make when i take a rest)
