Hello Everyone-Unfair Deaths Anyone?

I guess that is an issue when logging in. I would suggest like a 10 sec invulnerability when logging in. Every time I log in, I usually have a 5-10 sec freeze/delay before I can move/play. I've had similar deaths to yours because of that

You need to log out in better places. Go into a shed or better yet out in the woods. You are probably logging off in the middle of a street or in a popular building.

I joined a server inside a small wooded area near Berenzino police station. I don't think even 5 seconds went by before I get charged by guy with and M4 who is being chased by a zombie. I couldn't get my gun unslung before he killed me. Talk about bad timing.

I'm not sure if this is an "unfair" death, but I think so...:

I just lost my longest surviving character. Finally made it to the NW Airfield, approaching it from the north (I think) trying to get into the military camp. I was quite wary, hoping there were no other players around and as far as I could see, there were none. At least nowhere close to me.

I hate the zombie AI. Some ignore you completely, some can see you lying on the ground in the forest picking your nose half a mile away. I don't get it. Anyway, of course there were some zeds in the camp. Heard one scream and got beat up some before I could finally hit him in the head. Bandaged myself quickly, ate all my stuff to get my blood back up, what little I had lost of it. The next one ignored me, I could just sneak up on him, one hit and he was down.

 

So now I got ready to enter the first tent. I couldn't see any more zeds nearby so I thought, go. I never ran, I never even stood up, I just snuck into the tent. Now I hear a zombie screaming again, okay, no big deal, he saw me through the wall or heard my beard grow or whatever they do, so I tried to get out my axe to finish him off but as quickly as I heard him scream, he was right behind me, just swung at me once and I was dead instantly before I could even have one hit at him.

I would say I'm fairly new to Dayz, I've only logged 24 hours into the game so far. But I'm even newer on this forum, so hello everyone.

I'd like to start a conversation on deaths in Dayz, more specifically the ones that you think were the most unfair regardless of what it is. No, I'm not complaining about dying, I love the game personally. I've died so many times after getting "geared" from simple things, so I was curious what others have experienced.

 

I would say my two most unfair deaths would be:

I was eating in a building on the second floor, once the animation started, I teleported backwards through the wall and died from fall damage.

My second one would be:

I was climbing down a ladder from the roof of a building and suddenly I got teleported 10 meters off the ladder to mid-air and died from fall damage.

 

Moral of my deaths, don't eat high above the ground and avoid roofs and ladders.

There are two kinds of death but only one is deserved.. Let me give you a bit of sage advice to go along with the 2 valuable lessons learned all ready to help ease the pain..

 

never run down the stairs in the tower of the fire station /  from the control room in the air control tower.

never log out on anything other than the ground floor and never on a steep inclination

never set a weapon down on the ground near trees , if any part of the weapon goes into the tree you will never pick it up again.

you can chop bushes down that swallow gear with an axe to reclaim the item.

Stay away from the shipwreck at night - you will fall to your death, even in Daylight the prow is lethal, tread carefully..

 

Never log into the game on the hour / or at half the hour, wait until 5 past or 25 to - trying to log in when servers are restarting does cause character wipes.

I think I read somewhere that this happens when they hit you in the head. Even ballistic helmets don't seem to do much about melee.

Yeah, I suppose that's what happened. But if you can't avoid getting hit at all, it seems pretty unfair that a happily bugging-out npc has a good chance to kill you with one blow to wherever the server thinks he's aiming at. If he happens to face me, I can't avoid him due to superhuman perception, if I aggro him I can't lose him because he's faster than me and can hit me while on high-speed pursuit, if I try to fight him while moving myself I can't hit him properly, if I stand still he won't stand still either but rather stand behind me, ass facing me, hitting in the other direction and still doing damage to me.

Most of these are (known) bugs. But one lesson to take away is this: Don't ever, EVER, take out or put away an inventory item anywhere NEAR a building, or you will probably die. I've died by taking my rifle out when I walked slowly across a roof - I instantly dashed forwards 5 meters, fell off the roof and died.

1st life: committed suicide by jumping off a tower cuz my screen was black and white and didn't know why. (now I do know, lol)

2nd life: fell off the beached ship after hitting jump instead of climb.

3rd life: got sick and died from eating rotten food.

4th life: Alive at the moment...however after switching servers with full equipment, I spawned inside a non-existent room and was stuck inside. I jumped and ran for about 10 minutes until I got out. I refused to let that character die there.

1.Tripped over an sks broke leg crawled forever no zombies in town fuck! Finally found one...you are dead

2. Tripped over sks broke arm and leg had good gear remembered sticks in house just out of town. couldn't crawl out side door? zombie out front door but arms broke cant shoot! legs broke cant walk! any way one turned to four at night no less only had three rags. Now im bleeding out crawling around "my kingdom for a shirt" I cried as I fell into unconsciousness cursing my vanity "I had ignored a first aid kit an hour earlier"

So unfair deaths hm? ok here are my top deaths I think were not O.K. BRO:

 

1. Died because a hacker killed me (He was running with lightningspeed through the woods, my whole squad of 5 never heared the m4 shots and he hit me at least 3 times before I blacked out and best of all, he was floating 5 feet midair)

2. I logged in and where dead. just like that. There where no zombies or players near when I logged out, I was healty, hydrated and energized. I just left the server and reconnected because it went down, 2 of my buddys logged in with me at my position and were perfectly fine (thankfully, running up to the nwaf takes some time right?!) TIP: if a server goes down, log out immediately yourself, don't wait for the server to kick you. I assume that was the reason of my sudden death!

3. I fell through the floor of the ship to my death

4. Couldn't pull out my pistol while prone while a newspawn approached me with a shotgun in the woods

 

In the 3 weeks I played I got killed by other players only one time in a fair firefight, all other deaths are related to hackers or glitches. But you know what? I don't care at all (ok, maybe a little bit about the cheater but shit happens right?) Because this game is truly awesome!
