Can't loot my corpse?

I'm sure someone else has run into this but I can't find any posts about it. I just died, and got back to my corpse. However, I cannot loot it for some reason? Is this a known issue?

Your body was hidden or you exceeded the timer and it despawned. only you can see it now.

Its gone, if you re-log it will be gone.  It sucks because you can see everything and it teases the balls off you.

Well, 2 things. It was on a hill. And it was barely 10 minutes (if that). What's the timer? Uhhh... so much running for no reward! DayZ how you torment me!!! Then 2 zeds who were following me nearly killed me while posting this. I'm sure they were miles behind me but somehow tracked me down out of spite.

Did this when I first started DayZ, I was pretty gutted to be fair. Now I've learnt that even the smallest of jumps can kill you and I ALWAYS walk around the rock face and not just jump it.

somebody could have got to your corpse before you, and hidden the body (either after looting some stuff or finding out that the stuff was ruined and useless)
