Dayz Not Working

I recently Brought Dayz and haven't been able to get it to work, iv tried running it as administrator and troubleshoot compatibility but I just get a message saying "the procedure entry point d3dxloadsurfacefromfileinmemory could not be located in the dynamic link library c:\programfiles(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\dayz\dayz.exe.

 

Any help or suggestion's will be greatly appreciated

verify the files through steam. and run it through steam not through the desktop. that should work

I tried that but still no such luck still comes up with the same message, I dunno if it has anything to do with windows 8?

Probably not this, but recently an update to one or more of the following Steam/DayZ/Windows 8.1 killed both my Arma3 and DayZ installs. Not the same symptom but worth a shot - run STEAM as admin and then the game from within steam. It fixed it for me after I'd uninstalled all my steam games :'(. I can only assume something altered the permissions.

tried that still no luck but this time it didnt come up with the message and came up with preparing to run dayz, gonna try uninstalling and re-installing and hope from there. thanks

That's exactly where I was and then running Steam as admin fixed it. If you're set on a reinstall, try giving everyone full permissions (and ownership of) to your steam folder first and see what happens. Can't hurt.

iv un-installed and re-installed it and still no luck and full permision to all accounts and still no luck, and system specs is Operating System: Windows 8 64-bit (6.2, Build 9200) (9200.win8_gdr.130531-1504)
