Crafting system

There should be a crafting system. For example , you find 2x rope and 1x stick , put them together , then now you get a crossbow. Add some nails to a baseball bat and you get a baseball bat with nails.

Wow - the world's crappiest crossbow!

Seriously though - being able to create something like a club with spikes or glass is more realistic.
