Playing 1PP has made me a far better player

So a little back story, I would classify myself as a "SUPER AGGRESSIVE" player. After about 2 months playing SA I changed to 1PP no matter what server I play on as going to 3PP was absolutely ruining the immersion for me. I would rather die than exploit and have done so a great many times. 

 

BUT! It has made me an increasingly better player especially by playing on 3PP servers. By playing 1PP on 3PP servers it has made me think more about my injection into a AO, it has made me think about where the contact is and if they are using 3PP (99% are) what can they see? It has made me use cover far far more than before and it has made me think about the cover I am using and how successful that is. I have developed techniques to combat their massive advantage and still come out on top. It has identified no go zones forcing me to wait for a better ambush situation. I now have a massively higher KDR than before (not that it matters) but I also enjoy the game more, more immersion, more tension, shit sometimes my heart is beating out of my chest when I am locked down in building not knowing how many or when the next dude is going to enter the room.

 

Finally, and with the help of all the wall glitchers, I have been able to convince my team to go to hardcore servers and while there was a week or two of trying them and then reverting back, most of them all enjoy the game so much more now. We have pretty much played HC for a solid week now.

 

Break free from the shackles of 3PP, break free from having the game hold your hand. You will not regret it and if you find the "num enter" is too tempting, jump onto a hardcore server. Games are suppose to be challenging. Watch your game style and play evolve...

I generally play hardcore (first person only). It actually makes it easier to approach a position since someone needs to poke their head out to see you. I had people fail to ambush me on the NEAF because I saw one of them through the window of the Air Control Tower. They heard us talking with a freshspawn and tried to investigate.

 

We were checking out the airfield and we ran into the bambi. So we do the general stuff of holding him up.

I am a very paranoid person, so I look around all the time, look into the ACT's window).

I saw the guy sitting on top of the metal stairs. We tell the bambi to get the f out.

Second guy tried to ambush us on the bottom floor (I guess they thought we'd cuff the bambi and then they'd attack, we were actually going to cuff him until I saw the guy in the window).

Killed the second guy on the bottom floor, he was peeking out the window. (At this point we didn't know there was a second).

I go up the stairs - see first guy. Exchange fire. He's been hit (I think), I'm fine.

I retreat, he's alive but he'll likely kill me if I poke my head out again.

2 minutes pass, ladder is loud and rather risky, especially since there might be snipers. I get an idea. I circle around the ACT to the window I saw him through. Move around a little and I see his helmet (he's sitting right atop of the stairs).

Open fire. Guy's dead. Go back around and up the stairs. Check his pulse - yep, dead. Loot the guys, loot the area, run like the wind.

It's going to be tough for people to give up the 3pp crutch, but I'll agree with you on the subject that the 1pp changes the game entirely. 

 

Since players can no longer check corners and peek over walls, it makes for a more immersive atmosphere.

I like playing 3pp on DayZ. Not to exploit, but I just like to see myself when I'm wandering around. I feel more survivory. But in combat, first person is nicer because it is fair (Well a bit more fair - you can still look through walls in 1pp).

I am not trying to start 1PP vs 3PP battle there are plenty of those but more of introspective look at your playing style. Do you think you are more reckless when you play 3PP? I know I certainly was.

I find people on HC are lot more cautious on 1PP than 3PP brothers

 

What I find funnier is that people on HC are lot more friendlier as well.

There is a massive difference in terms of strategy with 3PP versus 1PP.

 

An example for the current military death match area.

* Players just south of the base can hug a wall a scout players coming from the south side of base without being spotted by the enemy. 

 

While on the 1PP you would need to expose your-self to the enemy in order to scout the surrounding area.

Its funny, I think 1pp is far LESS immersive  than 3pp.  

 

This is supposed to be kind of a mmo/fps hybrid right?  Well there is a reason mmo's are 3pp.  Its so you can see your character interacting with the world.

 

Aside from that though there are 2 other reasons which make me have absolutely no desire to play this game in 1pp

 

First of all the audio in this game is just fucked... there is no nice way of putting it.  With such a small field of view in 1pp coupled with unreliable and glitched sounds your situational   awareness is extremely limited.  Secondly, as far as fps play goes, the controls and mechanics are way too clunky and slow to be effective at close range.  

 

Slow/Clunky mechanics + limited situational awareness = a very poor game experience IMO.  Some people might want to call that "hardcore mode".  I just call it "lame"

 

This thread is essentially a backdoor attempt at the same tired crybaby 1pp only agenda.  If you want to shackle yourself with those kinds of limitations be my guest... you dont need to justify it.... just do it.   You dont see the 3pp players making threads telling you how to play your game or asking you to take the 3pp week challenge.  I dont know why the 1pp crowd has to do it

Btw I hope driving in 1st person will not be as painful as in mod.

I remember almost getting headache when driving 4 wheel ATV in mod & 1st person.

Then your imagination is severely limited good Sir. I guess you did not play great games like Gothic serie, Blade of Darkness, Max Payne or tons of other great games that are 3rd person only.

That is fine you want to play like that as said this isn't about 1PP vs 3PP this is more about becoming a better player and I believe that if people are struggling with playing 3PP to give up the luxury, bear through the initial pain and give it a go as you could be quite surprised and it's not even because 1PP is superior but because of it what it does INTERNALLY, to YOUR OWN MENTALITY OF HOW YOU HANDLE THE GAME.

 

So get off your high horse and contribute maturely or piss off. No one wants another thread ruin by some defensive twat, except said twat.
